I planted 2 Azalea in the fall. Both are 'Girard's Hot Shot' and to have orange-red flowers. They are both planted on the east side of the house but in different beds. One is blooming deep pink. The other is red-orange. Is there anything I can add to the soil to get the pink azalea to bloom more red-orange?
Azalea color.
I suspect the one with the pink flowers was mislabeled and is actually a different cultivar. Azaleas aren't like hydrangeas where the flower color changes dramatically with soil pH, so for the flower color to be pink instead of orange tells me it's a different cultivar. If you've got your heart set on the orange flowers, hopefully you bought this at a nursery which will let you exchange it now that it's clear it's not what you thought you were buying.
