See attached picture. I clipped this off a small oak tree I have been nurturing since it came out of the ground from and acorn. I believe it is a black oak. Not sure what it is but the local ant population sure seemed to like it. Just like the way ants are attracted to aphids. I googled with no luck! The foreign material is slightly purple in color. It looks like a narrow cone. Any ideas?
