Gita, Nice pictures looks like you are enjoying the new camera.
I think you are best to decide what to do with the Brug. If it comes thru great and if not, well that happens with plants sometimes.
Swapping & Chatting Ric & Holly's Swap II
If wants a brug cutting (they root really easily), I have an unknown cultivar (I bought it at Behnke's years ago) that I really should chop down. I can't promise I'll get to it before the swap, but if I do I'll bring some stem pieces if anyone wants them.
got your mint ecnalg & pink pussy willow coleup
you are too much
I want to get some slip-on plant labels like these: http://www.amleo.com/slip-'n-lock-loop-lock-vinyl-labels-3%2f4in-x-7in-1000%2froll-yellow/p/SL734-4Y/. Total cost is about $40 (delivered) for 1000 -- don't come in smaller quantities. 7" long.
Or I could get 200 for about $22 (delivered) from here -- http://www.earthstarproducts.com/100-Vinyl-Slip-on-Plant-Tags-10-x-1-yellow_p_50.html. These are 10" long (which is nice) but I'm not sure the quality is as good as AM Leonard's.
There may be better prices or better ideas out there -- I haven't spent much time poking around.
Are any of you interested in getting some of these? If even 4 of us got them (assuming I get them from AM Leondard's), it would be $10 for 250. They are great for bundling daylilies. I want to use them to mark shrubs - I never seem to have anything handy to do that.
I'd totally go in on some labels like that, Happy... was looking for something of the sort the other day, for things like DLs and looping around Columbine stems (there are too many repeats out there to label each little clump with a zinc tag, but I'd love to have them marked by bloom color when seed-collecting time comes around). I can use at least 100... 250, no problem, and if need be I can even split the 1000 with you, but we'll see who else is interested.
Ok, then in that case I'll go ahead and order them, and we can divide among however many people want them. I need at least 100; I'd be fine with up to 500, though I don't think I'd use them. 1000 seems just silly.
If you see anything else at AM Leonard's, let me know; shipping will be more economical that way.
I've been itching for this (asked for it for Mother's Day, as a matter of fact, but I know it hasn't been ordered yet because I just asked DH), so I might add it: http://www.amleo.com/Lesche-Soil-Knife-with-Sheath/p/DT1/ or http://www.amleo.com/leonard-soil-knife/p/4752/ -- I need to figure out the difference between the two.
Edited to correct the link.

Got to see some of my "wants" in person at a local garden center today made me want them more! LOL
they had the black and blue salvia and the john creech sedum.....looks great in person!!!!!
Well, I'm sure the Black and Blue that you saw at the garden center was a lot more robust than the unflowering cuttings I'll be bringing, but I think it'll bounce back fast. Mine is not in full sun, so it is looking wan.
I was surprised to see theirs blooming already...must have been in a toasty greenhouse before they brought it out
I spotted that John Creech at Home Depot, too! Purty!
Happy, LMK before you place that order with AM Leonard's... seems I always have something I "need" from there. I haven't used the type of soil knife you're looking at, but I can highly recommend their classic soil knife (with the orange handle)... and it looks like they have an improved/deluxe version now also. I haven't found anything better for certain tasks where you really need a tool that stabs, pries, and cuts -- like dividing daylily and hosta clumps. I got mine as a gift from a college buddy who's a fanatic fantastic gardener... didn't get a sheath and haven't missed it. I tend to neglect my tools, so I also appreciate that this one is rugged stainless steel.
I am going to go to the nursery in town next weekned Jen.. will let you know if they have the gallon black & blues again.. don't remember the prices .. at the time I didn't care.. was happy to see it in such a large container
Wait til the John Creech flowers! So pretty!
Coleup, I'm afraid I don't know the variety of these raspberries. My dad got them at Home Depot and planted them for me. I'm pretty sure they're one of the "everbearing" varieties, because they produced fruit the first year they were planted. My problem was that my dad planted them so close together, barely 2 feet apart, and there was no air circulation. They were not happy!
Critter: I just realized I posted the same soil knife link twice -- I've fixed that above -- is the orange knife you have used the second one linked above?
I haven't figured out whether the more expensive one is worth it -- the way I treat tools, might not be, but we have very rocky soil riddled with tree roots, so if the more expensive one will cut better, then that is what I should get.
I agree with you on the sheath, though it I actually attached it to my pants and kept the knife in it, I might keep the knife in good condition for a bit longer.
Anyway, I won't finalize the order until I hear from you. If anyone else wants anything from AM Leonard, please let me know; I'll bring it to the swap (with the caveat that I won't be arriving until 2pm-ish).
Re the Black and Blue -- it can be expensive and it is fast growing, so you don't absolutely need to spring for a big pot (assuming you don't want to work from my cuttings). It is only marginally hardy here -- I took mine in for the winter.
I did a lot of planting yesterday. Of course--half of all the time was spent pulling maple roots out of
every place I tried to dig. You should see the pile!
Heading out today to do more.....My poor back.....
Anyway--wanted to let you all know that, as of this year, HD now carries "SUPERthrive".
An 8oz (?) bottle for about $11. One drop to a gallon of water!!!
This product has been around for 69 years. Allan Summers used to talk about it constantly.
NOT a fertilizer! It is like--vitamins and minerals and root stimulator.
Here's one of the many links when I Goggled it. I bought a bottle.
Now to remember to use it.....:o)
http://www.maibanbonsai.com/superthrive.aspx
happy, I'd buy 50- 100 of those labels depending how much others want. (How cool, now I know that nurseries can print their own labels...)
oh if anyone wants cuttings of plectranthus .. I can get them started now for you.. they root as easy as coleus
ciliatus - white flowers - http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/31541/
purple flowers / leaves - http://allthingsplants.com/pics/2011-10-03/Onewish1/01683d.jpg
noid small leaves with purplish flowers - http://allthingsplants.com/pics/2011-09-17/Onewish1/e114c8.jpg
that last one glasshouse works had ID'ed wrong have no clue what it is.. contacted them and they said they are trying to find out
OH! Holly---
I took 2 new cuttings from my Pink NOID just now. Was going to cut some of the branches back anyway.
Also--un-potted the one that had stopped growing. Shook off all the dirt from the roots and re-cut that one as well.
Hoping the new cuttings will root before the Swap.
If all 3 of the cuttings root and do well--coleup you will also have your pink NOID that you wanted.
I will feel better when all is well in this regard. Gita
Happy, I don't know about the soil knife with the offset handle, but the AM Leonard one will stay in good condition forever... it's sturdier than any trowel I've owned, more of a "digger" than a "knife," although the serrated side does a good job of slicing through roots. Here's a link to the "deluxe" version (just $2 more): http://www.amleo.com/leonard-soil-knife/p/4752/
Now everybody is talking about doing this happy dance at Holly's. I, for one, have not seen a happy dance being performed so I would like somebody to show me how to do one (Ric, you can provide the music), Also, another dance I would like to learn is the Cajun Two-step. Never did that one, either but if nobody knows that one, we'll just stick with the happy dance. Thanks Buttoneer. ;-)
I can't wait to get one-or-the-other!
Critter: I wasn't going to get the holster, but I am seeing a lot of comments on-line to the effect that the knife is very sharp, and it is useful to have the holster just to keep from cutting yourself with it when it is not in use.
For me, I don't often wear a belt, so the holster wouldn't be that much use to me... I have put my soil knife into a jacket pocket and (carefully) into my jeans pocket, but usually I just grab it when I'm using it and then toss it back on my potting bench. My brother gave me a nifty thing for my birthday -- fits over the rim of a 5 gallon bucket & has tons of pockets and loops (both inside and outside the bucket) for storing stuff... now most of my diggers, pruners, etc. live in those pockets, and I can easily grab it along to wherever I'm working. I'm not sure if mine is a "Bucket Boss," but this is similar: http://www.amazon.com/Bucket-Boss-01056-56-Pocket-Organizer/dp/B000022439
I'm so glad you reminded me about that -- I bought one for myself last year and forgot to use it -- I need to figure out where it is hiding!
Jill--
HD carries that Bucket Apron. And the orange buckets you can put it on--$2.37(?)
I believe it is made of sturdy canvas. Lid is also available for the bucket--maybe 69 cents(?).
I do not know the price of the apron off hand. $10-$11 comes to mind???
Good to know for anybody else who can use one... I'm loving mine! My brother got me a white bucket because he thought I'd have fun decorating it with my rainbow supply of Sharpie markers...
Gita, I have a Nikon P90 Coolpix digital camera & I have been experimenting with it for the 2 years I have had it. Maybe at the swap, if you still need help with yours, I can take a look at it & help you a little. I can take movies with audio on mine, darken or lighten the picture before taking it, Get closeups, etc. Thanks, Buttoneer (Judy)
p.s. There is a good chance Bob won't come with me to this swap but then again, depends on how he feels & how hot the weather is. Judy P.s. anybody know what this is in the picture & if they have any divisions. Thanks.
Osteosperum Daisy???
Gazania?
I just potted 4 Vigna Caracalla seeds to try this vine again. If I'm successful I'll have at least 2 for the swap. I also got more of the Cardinal Climber seeds. There are 5 seedlings up, but I'm due to be gone a week again starting Saturday and I don't know if these will survive DH's care either.
Gardadore... WOW, what a list! I'm so excited, because you have a couple of things I've been searching for... please pardon this greedy list of requests; I'd be more than happy with just the leptodermis & chelone. Hope you'll let us know what you're looking for, too!

Onewish, may I have a few cuttings from the plectranthus? Thanks.
I forgot to add to my list of "haves", only because it is EVERYWHERE, Lamium galeobdolon subsp. montanum 'Florentinum' -- at least, I'm pretty sure that's what I have. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/55026/.
I'll do a visual confirmation later today.
I could bring vast amounts if anyone wants it. Oh, did I mention that it spreads?
(Is there a reliable way to find the "advanced search" feature on DG? Some days I can find it, and some days I can't.)
Jen, do you have any more Tangerine Geums for me?
Gardadore, could I please ask for:
Anemone canadensis
Dicentra bacchanal
Ironweed
Japanese anemone
Monad Jacob Cline
Thank you
Gardadore, it wasn't me with the 'Katherine' phlox, sorry... that was Aspenhill (on my list as a "requested from"). If she's out, you can have mine. But I can fix you up with some great oregano! I'll happily bring you a 'Gypsy' or two to try.
Gardadore, noted your requests, happy to oblige
Please may I have a Centaurea Montana Blue
