I'm so sorry,Memory, about your sweet cat's ending. I believe animals express and feel gratitude, and that your kitty knew and returned your love, and that it keeps returning.
I was introduced this weekend to a beloved dog, Balto who had a memorial at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. In about 1928, he led the dogsled to Nome area in Alaska to deliver syrum to treat a dyptheria epidemic.
When I got home my own brown dog got lots of extra hugs. My DD1, his main owner, might select Oberlin College---they have multilingual pet birds in the language labs (one cockatoo sings the Andy Griffith song). One reason they're there is so the college kids don't quite miss their pets so much. Depressed and quiet kids don't learn languages so well.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I miss Yowmee climbing up on my car hood and looking in the windshield at me when I pull in the driveway at night. Even though is running buddy got to see him before the burial, I think he is still looking for him. Another reminder to me that life can change in the blink of an eye.
aawww.. I feel so bad Memory!!
:(
well Hope learned a new trick today.. I was out plucking dandelions in the back yard.. guess Hope wanted to come by me.. and hopped on the deck rail behind my grill.. I didn't even notice why she got quiet and wasn't barking for once.. she got up there.. and didn't know how to get down.. just standing there shaking... my Harry walking stick is right below where she was.. and can't really find an opening there.. bad enough we had to add a 3' fence above our retaining wall.. now going to have to add to the deck rail too I guess.. UGH .. if I had her first.. I would just have one.. LOL
Oh, dear...she's a little explorer isn't she? Mine was sniffing a ribbon snake behind the dam today....tried to tell her not to touch snakes, but I don't think she got the message.....
oh goodness.. that's not good
Hope stop being naughty and behave yourself!
Hope she listens to you Ronnie.. she won't listen to me.. LOL
I have to tell you about David and Lindsey's cats, Kiz and Cody.
The day Leah was born, the cats were running around the house and woke David up. He wondered what was going on. Then he heard a noise from the bathroom, and that's how he found Lindsey. She was out. Long story short, Leah was delivered 9 weeks early by emergency c section. Both mom and baby are doing well, and Leah has already gained an ounce! Those cats are guardian angels!
Animals do know.....those cats were wonderful!
Thank goodness for those kitty's!!!
They are amazing little creatures. So many stories of them - and dogs - saving people's lives. I saw one yesterday where a seeing eye dog was set up to call 911 - and he did when his person was attacked and pushed down a flight of stairs by robbers.
Wow....smart dog!
How cute, Ronnie! He's adorable!
Karen
Thanks Karen!
ooohhh he is too cute Ronnie!!!
I wanna just squeeze him!
Me too Jen!
So cute!
Very cute puppy, and think he isn't very far from me. :-)
Can't stand it....I NEED a puppy!
I really can never do that puppy stage again, I'll just have to make the rounds and play with everyone elses puppies, LOL
That means you don't have fur kids, but fur grandkids :-)
oh gosh, I'm not old enough for any grands!
Jen I thought I wasn't going to do a puppy again either!
I should have a plant trade and puppy greet all in one!
there ya go, great idea!
I didn't want to do the puppy stage again, either, and then we got Jerry. What was I thinking????? He's a sweetie, but a big pain in the rear end quite often. The biggest problem we have with him is the counter surfing and getting a hold of things he shouldn't and tearing them up. I bought a large, orange retriever dummy at Petsmart the other day, and he destroyed it in no time flat. I thought it was good and sturdy, one he couldn't destroy. I was so wrong. They let me return it, and I exchanged it for one of those cow femur bones that has the peanut butter filling in it. Those things last and last, and he loves chewing on them, even long after the filling is gone.
Anyhow, if I ever get another dog (which I know I will someday), it will be at least 3 or 4 years old.

Karen I sometimes boil the empty for a few minutes then fill them with morr peanut butter. If you freeze them they last longer.
Isn't straight peanut butter awfully fattening for a dog? I'm assuming they put some kind of peanut butter flavored stuff inside that's healthier.
Karen
I used regular peanut butter in the kongs now and then
I would think the stuff they use could be just as fattening and not as natural as the PNB I use. You can cut the fat and mix it with some fat free or lowfat cream cheese. I do that for myself.
yes lots more chemicals in the fake stuff
Suey loves those bones! She keeps them forever, & refinds them in the lawn.....my mower guys don't like them, so I try to hunt them up before they come....
Another $150 vet bill for Patches. She has an infection in her eye. They had to do 2 tests. They weren't sure if she had a scratch on her cornea. She has conjuctivitis. Has to have special eye drops twice a day for the next 10-12 days. Poor Patches (and poor me, as I'm pretty broke about now).
Karen
that stinks.. so sorry to hear it Karen... poor baby
:(
Karen - {{{hugs}}}
Poor puppy....she is so sweet, hope she gets better fast....
oh geez, sorry!
Hugs for Patches ((((♥))))
Poor Patches is having a rough start to the year, sending healing vibs and prayers your way.
