I just may have to come for a visit

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ronnie he's soooo cute!! Bet you can't wait until May!

Cyrus did OK at the vets, he didn't wake up from the anesthesia as well as they had hoped. We dropped him off at 7:45 am, they told us they would call between 12 and 2pm. At 2:30 no phone call, so I called them and thats when they told me he's awake but not as much as we would like him to be. So they kept him until almost 5 before they felt comfy in letting him go home. Scared the bee-jeebers out of me!! He's sore but OK and more like himself this morning. :)

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Glad Cyrus is OK, I guess just like us dogs have different reactions to the anesthesia.

Jen come on over!

BA you will get tired of the pictures! LOL

Oh, Pixie...what a scare! Same thing happened with one of my dales, Jazz....she took way longer to come out of anesthesia than her brother.....

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

glad the baby is ok Celeste

the part where it tells you the type

maybe Cyrus just needed a nap

Thomaston, CT

Gasp....what does it say that I owned 3 airheads? But I also owned hounds.....split personality, I guess!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Cyrus is doing MUCH better, he has pain meds but they don't seem to bother him so im breathing easier now. ^_^

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Whew! Good to hear!

Funny, Robin! Really laughed at 'airheads'!

Sweet little Carli was standing guard yesterday when we took a nap upon arrival at the hotel. She sat straight up between us with her back against the headboard and made sure we were safe while we slept .... And this after holding Bailey between her paws the whole day in the car. She is such a good little dog. Right now she has Bailey between her front paws and is nodding off, but won't put her head down. LOL.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

And just now when I looked back at them, Carli has her paw over Bailey as she is watching a big semi-truck roar past. You can see the shaved portion of her front leg from having her dental bloodwork done last week, in case you can't make out what that is. LOL

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

So protective, what a good girl!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

aawww too cute

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe they can join the secret service?? ^_^

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

She is such a good big sister....unless she wants the toy or rawhide chewy that Bailey has. Yeah, Victor, there may be some openings soon!

One of the grey strays has not shown up for 3 meals in a row. I hope he found another home - he was well behaved except for spraying everywhere. I'm a little sad because I don't know what happened - but it is OK. I made sure he was fed and had medical care and had a warm place to sleep and catnip on Saturdays when he was on my watch. The other stray - who I have been feeding for maybe, 7 years still is here for every meal. I wonder if he misses his friend?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hope he's OK. :(

Durhamville, NY(Zone 5b)

Is he fixed. Maybe a new girlfriend.

Thomaston, CT

Hopefully, someone took him in.....

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

He is fixed and he has had his rabies shot. He is a beautiful medium-long haired solid gray with gold eyes and wants to live inside a house so bad. I can pick him up and hold him like a baby. He would be living in my house right now if he didn't spray all over. He will probably be back for dinner tonight.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I found the cat about 3 pm where he had crawled under the pine tree in the front yard. Thank goodness my vet works late and she could see him and take Xrays. His pelvis is badly broken. He is at the vets on pain meds and she will call me tomorrow and tell me whether she thinks his bladder is ruptured. If it is, we will say good bye. If not, the cure is having the pelvis pinned by a vet surgeon - no one at the hospital I go to can do it. I'm guessing about $3k which is about what I have spent on Sampson treating him for HyperThyroid. The option is to keep the cat in a box where he can't move until the break heals and hope that he will be able to walk. And then I either put him back out on the street or keep him in the house where he pees on everything and then Wallingford pees on top of his pee. The one thing I prayed NOT TO HAPPEN was to put me in the position where money was an issue with the strays. Please someone remind me that I think that they go to a better place when they die.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

OH how sad and that horrible decision we all have to make. Prayers for you both and I know you will make the right choice♥ And YES they do go to a better place :) I believe that with all my heart and I know you do too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - sorry to hear, cat.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Hmmm..... Victor, I wonder what that would say about me that I have Basset Hounds, even though they are mixes. I consider myself a low-key personality, not very excitable, though not exactly emotionally stable, as the article suggests about hound owners. I'm more stable than I used to be, but it took my years to get that way. I still have issues I'm dealing with.

Celeste, I'm glad everything is fine with Cyrus.

I believe our animals go to a better place. That's too bad about that cat. If it were my decision I would be choosing to put him down. I could not afford to pay that kind of money for a stray.

awwww so sorry about the cat

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Glad you found him Memory, but not in that way. Best wishes to you and the stray what ever you decided.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hope he is ok Memory.. and they do go to a better place with no pain

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Yowmee is buried in the shade garden at the side of the house not too far from the tree he liked to sleep under. As I dug his grave, I realized that there are shade plants and flowers that have come from my DG friends that will be his marker. I buried him with some catnip toys and a piece of one of my old winter coats covering him. RIP, you were a very good kitty and now head back to where ever unconditional loves comes from because that is what you are.

Memory, even though it is incredibly sad, you did the right thing for him, when he was alive, & now that he has passed into a better place.....I'm so sorry.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sorry Yank :(

East Bridgewater, MA

You were a geat substitute "mommy."

Pat yourself on the shoulder, amd know that you raised the "love quotient" on Planet Earth.

We need more like you.

Like about 5 billion....

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

A piece of him is with you Memory and that's all he needs...my deepest sympathies.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

So sorry Memory.. Nice that he is close by

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

So sad for you, Memory. I love what a great person you are with so much love for those who need it. You are so special! Hugs for doing the hardest act of love. I hope some of my flowers are among those serving as his marker.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Sorry to hear that, Memory. He was loved and well cared for, that's all that counts. What a nice marker those plants will make.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)
