The old thread was getting slow to load.
Hairy is about 13 or so.
When I came home Bear was no where to be seen. I went looking for him and I could here him banging on a door. He had managed to lock himself in the wood shed. There are time when I wish he was more of a barker. The man I rent part of the house from isn't very mobile and couldn't find him.

I hope Holly is OK and doesn't have Cancer.
So, Yankee, the human grade glucosamine is fine for dogs? What strength would I use? Should I get it with the condroitin in it? Glad you had those special floor mats for the cat pee so it wouldn't get all over the car. You were prepared. Sorry about that big vet bill. OUCH! Sure hope your kitty doesn't have cancer.
Patches is now feeling much better. Thanks for your well wishes to her, everyone. I think I will just save the rest of the Rimadyl for when she's walking stiffly.
Glad Bear was found safe and sound. Don't do that again, Bear!
Karen
Oh, Ronnie, forgot to mention that your pup is looking good. Bet you can't wait to get him. How much longer?
Karen
Thanks Karen and everyone for the puppy compliments! Three more weeks until he comes home, we are shooting for May 6.
Wishing the best for Holly♥
Doug glad Bear was found! Abby did that a few years ago, we couldn't find her anywhere, I was begining to panic and remembered I had been in the shed earlier, she must have followed me in and not out, never barked just laid by the door and waited!
Karen - I would google glucosamine for dogs and read the non-commercial blogs and see have people are using and the dosage - or post on the pets forum for an answer. --Memory
Holly is 14 and if she has cancer, she has it and I am not going to subject her to expensive, life extending therapy. My guess is that since this cyst, growth, whatever has been under her skin for years - it is benign. I'm not whatever-it-would-cost-for-the-biopsy-curious to find out. I really don't want to know.
I have read of people taking seconds on their home to pay for chemo for a pet - that is not how I plan to deal with my cats end of life issues. I will do suportive care but thousands of dollars could be better spent in support of spay and neuter programs and helping out shelters. The thing with Sampson was different - he has been cured and a horrible, shortened life of kidney and liver failure has been averted. I would treat myself the same way - if there is a definitive answer - do it - if not then put my affairs in order and take all the pain meds offered. And eat chocolate for evey meal!

totally agree!!!!
Many years ago, I was faced with the prospect of euthanizing my elderly, beloved german shepherd. My neighbor, who had to euthanize her german shepherd a few years earlier, said her vet stated there was one litmus test:
"Will your pet get better, or continue to suffer and go downhill? If the suffering will worsen with time, then you should put an end your pet's pain in existing, ahead of your own pain of loss."
Boston - well said.
(And now I am crying thinking about losing any of my furry friends.)
Dang it crying here too...
Ronnie, that pup is lovely...wish I could hold him, and smell that wonderful puppy smell! Memory, that's a good attitude with Holly....and I agree, totally.
(Purely editorial remark):
Since I believe in reincarnation, it's easier for me, than for those individuals who think that "Death (physical) is Final."
Literally hundreds of millions of people -- if not billions -- believe in reincarnation, and a great deal of the devinely inspired literature that has come forth over the millenia states that animal "souls" have their own patterns of between-life evolvement, so they also aren't really "dead": their consciousness, such as we'll call it, just changes to a higher frequency, while the physical body has simply worn out or gotten ill, like we humans do.
The bottom line:
"We don't die."
"Just our bodies die."
"We just change frequencies via our consciousness."
"Same with our pets, and all living matter."
(This editorial has now concluded ***** ;) *****)
So this is what I think I have figured out about pets. When they die either there is nothing after because they don't have souls or they go to whatever good place there is where souls go because they are innocents. If they go somewhere else - they join the part of the whatever that is in charge of "unconditional love".
But I still like the idea of them waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, that is unless there is a giant catbox that I have to scoop everyday for eternity! :)
Pets give us "Unconditional Love" (with a few rare exceptions of former abuse or illness), so they deserve the very best that the Universe can provide.
I'm in total agreement with what Memory and Boston said also. And how else can you explain the wisdom that some animals reveal?
Ronnie, what a love your new puppy is. Our friends who live 2 houses away from us here lost their standard poodle (beautiful, lovely dog who was so smart, he'd open the door and come over to garden with me!) 2 weeks ago, and have just brought home a poodle puppy 8 weeks old who has a beautiful, friendly face and the calmist demeanor I've ever seen in a puppy that age. The girls hit it off with Zoe immediately, and I fell in love just as quickly. Zoe will be a mid-size, 25 lb silver girl, even though she is black now, except for her silver face. I'm so glad we got to meet her before we leave tomorrow.
Memory....praying for the best for Holly! Karen- happy that Patches is better!
Have a safe and uneventful trip back!
I was a Roman priestess in a previous life. Also a slug.
I just squished a slug....can't believe I found one in this dry season! Louise, hope your trip home is relaxing & fun! OMG....3 airedales waiting for me over the Rainbow Bridge?
Glad you didn't squish Victor Robin!
Yes!
Michele sent me this.. how funny is that???.. on my deck we put up plastic chicken wire to keep them from going through the rungs .. poor tiny baby.. LOL

Funny!
That is funny!
I'm not real 'religious' but I do believe in some sort of heaven and of all creatures, I think the dog has the biggest "soul" of all. Mine are waiting for me for sure. I like to believe they are keeping my mom and dad and nephew company.
Everytime I have to put one of my big dogs down, I whisper to my Dad... "Sending you another one for safe keeping till I get there. "
Why just Dad? Mom was afraid of big dogs.....she gets my cats. ^_^
Celeste - :).
Cyrus is at the vets getting spayed, he's going to be angry with Brian & I when he gets home. :(
I vote we leave this guy in a room alone with the Mother of these pups....or maybe when all the pups are full grown let them have him. :)

what is wrong with people???
No kidding, how can you do that and sleep at night? That poor mother stressing, thank goodness someone looked!!!
awwww look at those faces!!!!
Special place in Hell for that person!
The problem is with people who can do that kind of thing to an animal - they eventually graduate to doing the same thing to people.
I can't even open it :(
Poor Cyrus....
Not opening! I'll take your word for it! We're almost to the Georgia line. Woohoo! Tons of trucks on the road.
Awwww, Cyrus will be forgiving. He has that sweet look about him.
You can open it they did not die and it just shows how cute the puppies are. Thank goodness the guy was a dummy...he left his address on the suitcase which is how they traced him and charged him. ^_^ ^_^
They are darling puppies.
Awww little bulldog mixes, so cute...don't understand people that do that, why not just take them to the pound? Lazy irresponsible idiot!!
Hope Cyrus is feeling better!
Ya it def could have been A LOT worse
Got an email back from my pups breeder, we can pick him up May 4th!!
