I am a total beginner so here goes-I bought two trays of stocks at the weekend but the weather is turning iffy and don't know whether to plant them out yet? If not, is it ok to keep them in the trays for now or can I plant them into two large pots in the conservatory in the meantime?
Stocks
You can keep them in their original pots until danger of frost is past.
What is meant by "stocks"?
Stock (Mattbiola Bicornis) night scented, Stock (maritimas ) Viginia stock and there are plenty more, either Annuals or perennials,
I would keep them inside for now till all danger of frost (night time or Day time) has passed, all types will be too tender at this time of year and as most gardeners will tell you, for planting flowering plants after spring time you need to hold back till May, even end of that month, being impatient will cost you money as by morning you plants will be dead.
You need to water, NOT soak, you can put the plants outside in a sunny day to get light and warmth with air flow around them, but don't leave them overnight.
Hope this helps you out, Remember all those plants you are buying right now have been raised in hothouses with controlled heat / light / water etc to get them ready to entice us all to buy them then watch them die as it's far too early.
WeeNel.
