fame flower and perky sue
April 2012 blooms
Cheryl, those are really cute.
Is the four nerve daisy I have the same plant as the perky sue?
Okay, Plant Files says it's the same. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53549/
I don't know, I think four nerve daisy has more petals than Cheryl's flower, her flower looks more like this one

I dont think its an annual and I ordered it as scaposa but it looks different than my other 2 mature plants.
Josephine, my initial response was no, but then I looked it up on PF. I also agree that 4 Nerve Daisy has more petals.
My selfheal is not blooming yet, I can't wait to see it bloom, it will be my first time.
Lovely flowers, Everyone.
Josephine, I think last year was the first time I saw mine bloom and I was so excited. I had waited a whole year for it to do its thing! It's worth the wait!
Michael, I love your blooms no matter the size!
Thank you Stephanie
Tiny flowers go unappreciated a lot of the time, but most of them are beautiful.
I couldn't agree more.
I cut off the flowers myself. I am not sure it matters but I have read it gives more energy for larger plants.

Yeah I have read the same articles or articles that say if you let your flytrap bloom you are dooming it to death. Personally sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me as I have never had a fatality from a flytrap blooming and I am by no means a master carnivorous grower. I am just a plant collector and grower who respects them enough to let them produce seed.
Respect? I just find they reproduce so much vegetatively that I don't really need the seeds. As for natural well growing any plant in a pot sort of negates that idea. I have let them bloom and they certainly didn't die and of course that is a foolish idea. Have you had any volunteers from all the little black seeds they produce? I have two pots full of them but for some reason I only see flower stalks in one of the pots this spring. I do bring the CP's to school when we talk about plant adaptations and the explenation of the tall flower stalks makes for a good lesson. Students also enjoy dissecting one of the Sar. pitchers and seeing all the creatures in them.

I had baby plants last year but they perished some time in the heat of summer so now I gather them and raise them indoors. When 1 inch I move them outside to fend for themselves and wait for the next batch to start. Yeah pot culture is hardly the natural way when talking about any plant that originated out in the wild. Yet the plants I have we're grown in essentially a test tube (In vitro) so my pot culture is more natural as they are outside and given the sun for lighting as well as the natural cycle for growth and rest.
There is a famous website www.sarr.....that states the flowers of Dionaea muscipula are pretty dull! Funny, cause I think they resemble little white 'Blue Flax' and I have always enjoyed the flowers as well as the flowers on Pygmy Drosera.
I have to say I am more interested in trap development which is why I usually cut them off.
Mamma mia ! BELLISSIMA !
Coming from you that is a huge compliment! ♥
I bet that smells heavenly, morgan!!
At times, Stephanie, I could write sonnets about the scent. There are two more vines around the pool and at this time of the year you are engulfed in the essence of Jasmine. Sheer Heaven!
I spent yesterday planting in the wind. We had moved some Cannas which weren't doing well by our stream bed, and it needed some color. We are having a small outdoor wedding here in May and we are trying to make it pretty. You can see the Jasmine by the pool under the palm. I wish the Jasmine would hold on until then......but......
Your landscape looks gorgeous!
Thank you b18 - my DH works very hard at that!
sooo nice ...
You still have a lot of grass areas too.
My dream is "slowly" removing grass in the front yard ... so more flowers for meeeee
I have a crush on Clematis this year.
Here is Clematis Florida Sieboldii (http://www.gardenvines.com/shop/large-flowered-clematis-3/clematis-florida-sieboldii-420.html)
Isn't this amazing ?
and it is still a baby ... first year blooming !
We too would have less grass this year if it weren't for the wedding. After last summer, we made plans to rip out half the backyard grass and extend our strolling flower garden (my DH's baby) but then the wedding came up and we knew it would look like a construction zone if we started. DH has a habit of taking on a large amount of projects at the same time.
As for the front yard.....any flowers we plant, with a few exceptions, the deer eat........so........we enjoy the back!
I love your Clematis......you have made me take a strong look at them for our yard. Do they ALL climb and vine? Do you have to cut them back every year?
I love that Florida Sieboldii, it's been on my wish list for the last few years!
I'm ignoring the garden, again..sigh..I keep promising myself I'll get it cleaned up when I'm done with the veggie garden. Then I keep making the veggie garden bigger and bigger. So, next year.lol
Clematis are setting buds, I've missed getting pics of bulbs and most of the iris. Mostly just roses and grass right now!
