How many snap pea plants would you sow for 2 adults? I'm just looking for enough to garnish salads and occasionally as a vegetable for dinner. I certainly don't need to be eating them every night, will be eating the whole pod not shucking, and I don't plan on freezing any.

I would plant half a packet one week and the rest 2 weeks later. If you can work your garden, now is a good time to sow.
The soil needs to be warm for germination but not as warm as other crops. Once they are up and growing they are pretty hardy.
You want to be able to harvest when its still cool.
Be sure to pick the peas when they emerge from the flower. Thats when they are tender & sweet, & look like snow peas.
microbiology1 - birds and slugs love to eat young pea plants! Sow enough seeds to take this into account. Sluggo Plus will kill the slugs and sowbugs.
Personally, I have three 24' rows of peas - but I plan to freeze most of the harvest.
I have four Dwarf Grey Peas planted, mainly because of a small yard. But if I had a huge yard, or rather a field, then I would do the whole HoneybeeNC thing.
synsfun - one day I'm gonna measure that "field" back of my house! LOL
It is a nice big backyard, which is why I chose this particular location. HATE the house, LOVE the yard!
My yard is so small that I can cut it with a riding lawnmower before the engine gets warm on a hot summer day! lol.
