I'll take a seedling for Post Oak! Got any blackjack oaks?
North Central Texas RU April 28, 2012 (Trade Thread) #2
Hello everybody! We are MOVING to D/FW this spring and I love to go to wheelchair-friendly RUs, but I don't think we'll be there in time for this one. (Sad face.) My name is Carrie (duh) and I've lived in Boston for most of my life, have had MS for half that time. I wouldn't have had anything to trade anyway...but it's always fun to read and drool.
Saw the bluebonnets for the first time driving up from Austin! I'd make them the state flower too!!! My favorite color. Wow, they glow, don't they?

Welcome to Texas (later) Carrie! We have RU two or three times a year that are fairly close to DFW, so stay tuned to the Texas Gardening and you won't miss a thing.
No problem that you don't have plants to trade, you will still go home with something at one of our RU's. Look forward to meeting you in the future.
Carrie, Welcome to Texas.
We are very excited to hear that you are moving to DFW Metroplex, let us know where you settle in and I am sure you will be able to make the next swap.
Josephine.
I might not even have a garden! I feel like Mary Lennox: "Might I have a bit of earth" or whatever she said in A Secret Garden. Thanks for the welcome and I will gratefully plant anything even if it's inside in a pot or window box or patio!
I have a lot of yellow four o'clock seedlings coming up in anyone wants one. Also, I have plenty of East Texas Mistflower (likes shade, blooms in the fall) http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=COCO13
Perk, I have you down for a Post Oak. We are in the post oak belt, so my 30 acres is just post oaks and a very few other trees. I have tried for years to get a red maple to grow and so far between cattle, drought, and wind, none have survived.
Welcome Carrie!
Joy, I just got a red maple from the Arbor Day Foundation free with my order. I potted it up and will bring it to you at the RU. I already have one and my property does not have room for another.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Joy_ not sure if you have anymore rain lilies left but if so could I have one? Anything from my list you care to try?
Perkos, I would like some Jacob Cline Monarda please. I will set you a rain lily or two aside when I pot them up.
I just found bunches of bunny tail grass in the back yard. I thought for sure the one little bunch I had was killed from the drought and never thought the dogs would have spread the tails around, seeding for me. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/5119/
Joy

And you're getting lambs ear from me, roux.
Thanks, I had forgotten.
Joy
Joy, I promised you mealy blue sage and borage also.
Joy, I think the Mexican oregano is for someone else. I would love the poop though! What do you want?
Newtonsthirdlaw, I will bring you peony poppy seed
Dennis ,thank you for the Phlox.
If anyone has an extra passion vine I would like one....... mine bit the dust.
what about DogsandPetunias? She came last year from Cleburne I think.
Yes, but she hasn't said a word this time.
Phyllis...I will bring a blue crown passion vine for you. I would love to have some peony poppy seed if you have extra.
I found a passiflora foetida last night that I'm happy to dig up and bring for anyone. There may be a second one, but I need to wait for it to get a bit bigger before I make a positive ID on it. The bees LOVE this thing!
Phyllis is there anything left on my list I can bring you for the poppy seeds?
Cheryl
Catz, would you be interested in Clerodendrum bungei or have you already found one. A lady from GA asked me to start her some cuttings and then she just disappeared. Ive tried to contact her but it has been months so I have some rooted plants on hand. They are small but healthy.
Here is the VERY long trade FIRST thread #1 link if anyone needs to re-check like me. Very slow to pull up...also please don't post on it. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1240847/
I would love one Marty :) Thank you. Can I offer you anything? I will be updating my list in the next couple of days ok.
Do any of you have Swamp Milkweed in your gardens? Mine has still not shown any growth however the roots look awesome. Any answer for me?
I thought that my swamp milkweed was dead, too, but it just started to produce top growth.
Awesome. I guess I just need to be more patient ;)
Swamp milkweed has never done well for me although I have really tried, I have two large pots and they are just starting to grow, milkweed can be a real problem except for Curassavica, that one does well.
How did the TX milkweed do?
Sheila,Thank you for the vine and I will bring you the Peony poppy.
Cheryl, anything you bring me would be great.
Please don't shoot me for asking, but does anyone want a yellow trumpet vine? I pulled one up today.
Cheryl, the Texas milkweed is not up yet, but it was never strong here,
Is anyone interested in these?
Passiflora 'Ruby Glow' (small start) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53806/#b
Grape Leaved Passionflower http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1195/#b
What is a yellow trumpet vine, catz?

Caution this can be VERY invasive and VERY hard to eradicate if you don't like it!!!
I like it but I know A LOT of people don't. I have this mixed in with my tangerine crossvine, it looks beautiful together.

I yanked up some white yarrow today while getting rid of the obedient plants. I've got 2 that I'm trying to get to root. Anyone interested??
I've also got a passiflora foetida if anyone is interested. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1194/
Can you grow it in a pot? Ive never seen the yellow one around here at all. Ive seen the orange one but they dont bloom heavily that Ive seen. I'll try it and if it misbehaves, I'll take it to my sister who lives in the country and has more room.
Stephanie, I'd be interested in the other one, if they both take.
Okay Dennis, you got it!
