Karen, you are a worker! Great plans....I love pink DLs, but not many are a true pink.....
Garden Projects #8
It will look great when the hostas get a little larger.......
3 years will be about enough time.
Jen, I did something similar to that chess board design in my yard (on a much smaller scale though) and I planted it with dwarf mondo grass instead. It might require mowing once a year to keep it nice and neat looking but so far it's been practically maintenance free for me.
Yeah, too bad hubby nixed that idea. I guess "do whatever you want in the backyard" comes with conditions...LOL......only with approval
daylily flowers already karen!
I know this isn't a garden project but when do we ever stay on topic....LOL
Just got my daughter new bedroom furniture, loft bed with a play area under it and built in storage steps and desk and dresser....so taking all the stuff out of her room....looking at the rug and thinking wish we can get rid of the carpet before putting this massive furniture(now mind you I did NOT say it out loud)
hubby comes in the kitchen and says "would you like me to remove the carpet and put down wood floors before we put the furniture in her room?" well YEAH! She's going to have the nicest room in the house
Why does 1 project always roll into another one?
Maybe he was feeling badly about mixing the chess board idea heehee
You're joking, right Bill? I was just posting examples of the flowers that are in there. They aren't blooming yet, of course.
That's great, Jen! Good thing he mentioned it.
Karen
I like the pink in Hard Candy Christmas...also Pink Embers....
Ya Hard Candy Christmas and Pink Embers look the pinkest(at least on the computer)
I have one from Ollalie Farms that's quite pink, but it's a NOID...
Pixie,are those blooming now?
or from your files?
Wow...those are wonderful...love Woodside Romance!
Nice collection there, Celeste! Several of those I would love to have, and a few I do have.
Karen
No Jo! LOL From my files. Thanks Robin & Karen
feel like putting on my pink suit and call me pinky lee!!!
lol
Celeste, Normally I am not the biggest pink DL fan, but I would be thrilled with many of those beauties. Great collection. It certainly brightens up this rainy dull day for me.
We filled the truck up with plants from Vt and Western Mass over the weekend, but it is not dry enough to start planting them yet or even unload them from the truck which arrived on the ferry yesterday. It may clear off this afternoon. Hopefully. I will shoot some pictures of our haul. Included a nice Japanese Maple and way too many perennials, along with veggie starts and annuals. I was bad.
I have to head back to Boston for Medical appointments on Monday and then to Vt to supervise the last work on our renovated kitchen.
When I left yesterday morning they were installing the appliances. The Counters got installed on Tues and look great. The plumbers were about to install the toilet and faucets in the kitchen and bath and were moving the hot water heater to a better spot in the basement as I left. I met with the man who will do the tiling and I did the final layout for a couple cabinets that are being built on site, so I am mostly done. We met with the woodworker last Friday who is building a large maple Island for us and picked out the slabs of wood for it. It will be the focal point of the kitchen and our son's culinary stage. On Monday he called and had a couple of questions for me, so I stopped by his workshop on Tues and found that he had already done a great deal of work on it. I was shocked as I expected it to be weeks if not months. It is stunning. He said he got so into the project that he wanted to see the grain in the wood, so he went to work on it over the week end. We picked wood with old tap holes in it to make it interesting.
Though I will still have to deal with the outside mess and exterior painting and some planting, but that can wait. My pal from Brooklyn came up to see the Vt house and did some thinning out of saplings and junk shrubs in the woods behind the house which was way helpful. He went and bought himself a bigger lopper which of course he has zero use for at his apartment in NY, so it will live up there and be super useful for us in the future. He hated the old kitchen as it was so dark, dank and had low ceilings. He (6'3")will love coming the new space and coming up to the house with his wife and daughter whenever they want to use it which will make it a good trade off. Patti
I lived for trades when I was a potter. Its amazing what you can trade for.
Electrician wired my studio .
Patti, sounds like the work is lovely....maple is a favorite wood....I was hoping for maple cabinets, but settled for birch....my DH had a lot of the Scots in him.....don't forget to take photos! Glad you got what you needed....notice I didn't say wanted....in the plant dept. Hope medical appts go well.
Here is a list of my new kids. I began planting them yesterday after getting them all entered in my Garden Journal. Some of this stuff (GH) goes in containers so I will do those next week when I get home, but the rest will get planted today. We bought many of the perennials in six packs from one of our favorite nurseries in VT which sells them for 4.25 which is a wonderful way to add a mass of something. We did a bunch of it yesterday so only about half to go. Gorgeous day outside so it will be a pleasure. DH planted a big mess of cool weather starts in the veggie bed yesterdat, so we are not too far behind. But neither are the weeds. Dang they grow fast with some rain. We have one paeony totally open as are the lilac which don't bloom until Memorial day for us normally Patti

wow! that's quite a list!
Wow...I got tired just reading the list! What a huge job.....digitalis Snow Thimble caught my eye, as did the white bergamot....I had phlox Lord Clayton, but it died on me...will have to replace it, as I love the salmon color.....there will be some lucky folks who get to see all that on the garden tour!
Ohhh ma'gawd
agreed, tired from reading - forget about planting all that! impressive list.
And it's alphabetical!!! Double wow!!! Awesome list! Happy planting
I planted a flat of snaps today....that was enough in the surprising 80 degree heat.....
is that all?
Holy crap!
OMG, a thousand times over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Incredible, Patti. You are truly Wonder Woman. Lady, I don't know where you find the energy to do all this. I sure can't keep up with you. Maybe if I was retired and had the time....
Anyhow, the last couple of days I've been busy in my gardens. Got a bunch of new daylilies planted, did a lot of weeding, and did some mowing of the back trails. Weather was perfect today. I have lots and lots of buds on my TBI's and can't wait to see them all blooming, though now comes the fun of staking them up. Wish they would develop big clumps with lots of blooms like the dwarf and median ones do. Oh, well, they're so pretty, they make up for that lack.
