Thomaston, CT

Thanks...

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Got a lot done today, and I'm pooped! I did some burning (surprised it was allowed. Also moved some daylilies around and planted some new ones. Potted up some old ones for selling, and got some other perennials potted up as well. Did I mention I was pooped?

Looks like tomorrow will be good for gardening, so I'm taking advantage of that fact. Way to much to do around here.

Hubby is installing new ac and heat in our house, this is where the new condensing unit is going, that window is into the garage....had to cut back the rhody, move mums, oriental lily, geraniums, allium, daylily and newly planted coreopsis
actually got a little burnt today

Yeah, I got a little burnt yesterday, too. I'm getting ready to go out and get some stuff done. Gonna do some more burning and get some more done on that big bed I'm renovating, and get some more daylilies planted. I have a total of 60 that I bought last year that have been in pots that still need planting. I got 2 of them planted yesterday.

Yesterday I mulched, planted, moved stuff from one garden to another....slept like I was dead....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i spread mulch too and transplanted a few things - this morning i potted up herbs and flowers started from seed and put them in the cold frame outside - also started a bunch of squash inside

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

And you're not dead, Bill? Bill is the Energizer bunny.

I spent the morning in Vt un-boxing kitchen cabinets and moving them into place. Almost as much fun as planting a shrub. I am very happy with them so far. They got about half of them installed, but not any of the wall ones yet, so I may stay up another day to see them in place. But I need to get back to Brookline to set up for my pottery show on Thursday night. Things will be more normal after next week when I will really have time to concentrate on the garden.

I did get PI the other day in my left eye so it is miserable as I got it under the eyelid, but because I scrubbed with Tecnu (thank you Victor) I didn't get much anywhere else. I moved a huge mound of dirt that was bugging me for years out in the woods, and then dug up all the old semi rotten timbers from our old raised veggie beds. Some of the timbers were too big for me to move alone, but I was able to pry them out of the ground so DH and a helper can haul them away. We put them in the ground 30 years ago and they came from a wharf that was being taken down so they were huge and naturally covered in everything bad, but we were dumb then. They are still oily. We moved all our veggie plants from there many years ago when we smarten up and abandoned the site to nature, but I wanted them gone as you could still see the tops of many of them. So it is done. So the PI was worth it.

Karen you are nutsfordaylilies as that is a lot to plant up, actually more than a lot. Whew. But it will be stunning. Glad to have some rain. Patti

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Patti, I'm tired just thinking about all that work you did.

Yes, I'm definitely nutsfordaylily for sure. But then I get tired when I think of all the bulbs you plant, and all the many other perennials and shrubs and trees, etc. Whew! LOL!

Sounds like the work went well, Patti....I've been battling my second round of PI this Spring, but the Tecnu is great! Can't believe it works so well! Thank you, Victor.....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Glad to help!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti those are wonderful albums. Its the only way to share.
I posted a new project I was dreaming about a month ago or so.
I wanted a nicer path in the Fountain Garden. Time goes by and I met a landscaper by chance and asked for an estimate for laying a path using recycled materials. The price was so low I said"lets do 2"
I spent the morning moveing stones from the 2 paths I want to change. The 4 stones reside in the Tree Peony Garden now. and the fountain and shade are ready for the new paths.

Oops- I can't open the link...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hmmmm it works for me. Picasa changed and I am having problems creating albums that everyone can see.

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

It worked! Very nice project... I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

Pam.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks.I still dont know how i did it but if you can see it thats great.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, 2nd one worked for me, too....am anxious to see more!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

bbrookrd - where in VT?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

looking good JoAnn

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks I will keep posted as to progress. The landscaper has left town for a few days and I asked him if he could get the job done by the first of June.He said the weather has put him behind on other projects but was sure he could do it by then.
This means no progress reports until then.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Can't wait to see it Jo!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

What on earth are you doing up this early.
Love the sales of the new baby. She will thrive and get chubby in no-time with a nurse for a grandmother.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I slept well Monday night with a little help from benadryl. I've been up since 3 today. Working on baby shower favors. I crashed emotionally Monday, but am refreshed now and positive. I'm amazed that Leah has regained the ounce she lost plus another ounce. And even though I only held her up in my hands, it was the best. Lindsey went home yesterday, tough for her to leave Leah, she feels helpless as she can't even drive herself to the hospital. But she has lots of people to help.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

always good to have support

Thomaston, CT

Leah sounds like she's gaining ground....hard for Lindsay, but she needs her rest, too!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I agree with Robin, Lindsay needs her rest and im sure the hospital will never turn her away from spending time with her baby. Yeah for Leah gaining...love a fiesty baby, they don't give up and just keep on amazing everyone. ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

The hospital is great, parents can stay 24 hours a day, and grandparents 22 hours a day.
And this is the garden project thread, so we can head back there!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Sounds like a great project, Jo. I have to do mine myself. Will look forward to seeing it when it's all done.

Karen

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

You were smart to lay out yeou paths first. I have to move plants in order to get the paths in. It is a permanent decission and I guess the paths made themselves where I used to cut thru and into the longest garden.

When I saw your photos I was really jealous. My whole life is backwards sometimes.

Thomaston, CT

Not as backward as mine! My painting project from H--l is still ongoing....maybe I will finish today!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

evie_beevie, We are in southern Vt. in Williamsville about 8 miles from Brattleboro.

Robindog, I am a horrible painter, no patience, but I can spend hours trying to find the right color for someone else to paint on my projects.

Ge1836, I hope your guy wasn't cheap because he is a no show. It is horrible to get your hopes up for getting something done soon and then having them not show up for a month.

I got home tonight from the opening of my pottery in group studio show in Brookline. I sold some things the first night to strangers which was encouraging! The show closes on May 6th so hopefully I should have more sales between now and then. Here is a collage of some of my current work that I am selling. I am not selling a few things that I really liked, but no pictures of them yet. Patti

LOL! Jo, I don't always plan things out that well ahead of time. And sometimes I don't like the way I planned things out, so don't feel so bad.

Hope you finished today, Marilyn.

Beautiful stuff, Patti. I sure hope you sell more.

Karen

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I love your pottery

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti you should be proud. That is an impressive group. Remember back when you first started?

My payh guy is one of those youngsters whe needs to be contacted. I dont want to make a pest of myself.I called him to see where things stand. We worked out a couple issues and he said he was travelling so I will poke him again next wednesday. We agreed to have the paths done by the first week of June. I cant believe it will take more than a day.
I like him in any case,he doesnt mind me directiong the stone layout. If I could get down on my hands and knees I would be doing the job myself.

Karen ,these paths were too narrow.First laid out by just following where I went into an area for a year. Then I wanted stepping stones so I wouldnt get shoes too muddy. Then I got free bluestone slabs and laid those down, well DD did it.
Its a little known fact that most of the early highway system was deer paths at one time.
Thats how mine just happened.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice pottery Patti, I'm jealous

Thomaston, CT

I'm drooling...love all the pieces, but really love the cups! Yes, I finished my mudroom....sort of looks like the Swedish flag, but it's neat & clean....
