I saw the nasa articles where it lists 6 plants that clean air... here is an article that contains alot more. About 30 or so phytoremediators and hyperaccumulators http://sustainedliving.org/?p=27 .
Also talks about how aloe plants can be used as early warning devices for air quality because they will form dark spots when hyperaccumulating.
Houseplants that purify
Any plants in the home will help filter the air. I think it's more about leaf volume than type of plant. One little Sansevieria won't do much, but having several plants in various rooms can make a difference. Some of the best are the ordinary workhorses of the house plant world, Philodendron, Pothos, Dracaenas, spider plant, many more. The more leaves they have, the more actively they are growing, the more they will do to filter the air.
