Latest addition to the collection:
Jonson, Ben. The Works of Ben Jonson, Which were formerly Printed in Two Volumes, are now Reprinted in One. To which is added A Comedy Called The New Inn. With Additions never before Published London, Printed by Thomas Hodgkin, for H.Herringman, E.Brewster, T. Bassett, R. Chiswell, M. Wotton, G. Conyers, MDCXCII (1692). Frontispiece portrait copied from Robert Vaughan’s plate by William Elder. Folio. First complete collected edition. The first one volume edition and the last of the folio editions. *** Contents: portrait; general title; the catalogue; commendatory verses; dedication, recto, and “Persons of the Play”, verso (for “Every Man in His Humour”); text (as called for in Pforzheimer, II, 582): 1-264; 281-374; 377-382; 393-744; “Leges Convivales”. *** Full paneled calf; raised bands; gilt lines; spine title in gilt; gilt decorations to the edges of the boards. The top and bottom spine compartments have been renewed in matching leather. The book is very nicely preserved. The outer hinges show some mild wear; the inner paper hinges have been modestly reinforced with a binder’s tissue. The text shows a few random spots and old ink stains but is free of foxing and, overall, quite clean. A couple pages have minor chips (not touching the text). *** Since “The Lord Chamberlain’s Men” (“The King’s Men” after 1603) acted some of Jonson’s plays, we find Shakespeare’s name listed in a couple cast lists – “every Man in His Humour”, for example. And, of course, there are the names of Shakespeare’s associates, such as Burbage, Heminges, Condell, and Kempe. While Shakespeare and Jonson were (are) thought of as rivals, there can be little doubt that they respected each other as men of the theater. Today, of course, it is Shakespeare who is at the pinnacle of theatrical genius. However, while more classically oriented, Jonson does approach, in comedy, to some of the higher levels of theatrical comedy that “the Bard” so happily achieved in his mature comedies.
Money Matters - Part 11
Woohoo!!! Would love to see your collection someday.
How cool is it that Shakespeare acted in one of the plays?!!
VERY cool. Never thought of him as anything but a writer.
Again, this is no surprise to informed people.

After raising the top tax rate to 50% only a couple of years ago, the UK is now reducing it. Duhhhh. Did not raise close to what they said it would.
Really rich people do not get really rich by letting themselves be taxed to heck and not finding ways to avoid that fate-I suspect!
I guess that is why they are rich!
And it would look good on you, Sherrie!!!
Wow
Ugh! College offers are coming in at our house. I think the private liberal arts colleges we're hearing from aren't giving up huge amounts of money. Presidential scholarships are tending to be around $10,000 from expensive schools, and some even less. In terms of merit scholarship offers, the most generous ones called themselves things like the "Abraham Lincoln" scholarship at Gettysburg College. State schools also have made offers and you can stack up some of their scholarships. But the kids in school are making it a peer issue to resist going to state schools, at least among our girls. We expect more news within the next week.
The electronic filing of applications clearly affected the way offers are sent for the past few years, but now the electronic filing of financial aid data and the new rules that were implemented this year have ushered in other financial aid changes that are hard to fathom.
Good luck sorting and choosing.
New Budweiser sign "Beer is Cheaper than Gas!!"
Yes, good luck on all that, Rosemary!
Hahaha, Sally.
Thanks
Did it take more workers to process that crap then to do regular butchering and grinding it? You think since it was fake meat they would be using machines and not real people.
I wasn't crazy about that ring
it was a huge plant, they do not run by themselves. was happy and surprised that costco never used that crap, we get most of our meet there - shaws locally said they are not going to add it anymore once they run out of the current supply - now who is going to run out and buy thier hamburger right now?
I made sure I knew it was true ground sirlion or chuck...even better when you have the butcher do it
Paid $4.04 yesterday. Highest I ever paid.
I'm sure many of us are 'looking askance' at ''burger meat'' in stores right now! I never did think those 'chub packs' of ground meat were very appealing. Has anyone asked Taco Bell? Their ground meat seems curiously minutely ground.
Ever see the movie Soylent Green??
3.71 here
my old boss's son worked for taco bell and they used to back up a tanker truck to fill up the "meat" containers
Yum!
3.95!!
Soylent Pink?
Guess I'll be opting for steak or chicken on my taco salads now!
Whats the chicken equivalent- White Slime? Isn't that the McNuggets base?
The WHole Foods CEO (owner, whatever, head honcho) said that we spend a much smaller percenage of income on food than we did some decades ago.

Really? that's surprising...but does that mean people are buying more off the 99˘ menu?
And Whole Foods is doing their very best to make sure that percentage goes way up.
whole foods is way over priced
I read a critical article about the guy but don't remember what the specific criticisms are. I don't shop there. I visited once and was amused by the aging hippies, and young wannabehippies, shopping elbow to elbow with to the gals in the boots with "stilletto toes."
Remember, our parents in the 50s and 60s were not buying cell phones, computers, houses were much cheaper, one car per family. one small tv per house, etc. When did credit cards get big?
$3.63
The Acme in town is way over-priced, but it only competes with Sav-a-lot and a very limited Walmart. So, I sometimes cross the toll bridge into Delaware to shop at a Shop-rite(6miles) where they will reimburse me the $4.00 toll plus 5 cents per reusable bag.
4.15 in CT. The only thing I buy at Whole Foods is bulk goods. They have a great selection of flours and grains and even beans. I bought some of their heirloom mix beans to plant this year.
Wow Jan, can't believe they reimburse the toll.
Safeway here seems too high, Giant too. Weis, Shoppers, has some good prices. ALDI has the best (though limited selection) if you can shop cash or debit card. It about kills me to buy a basic item for more than I'd pay at Aldi.
I can't believe they reimburse your tolls either
At Shoprite, I like the fact they give you $ back if you bring your own bags and a huge organic and gluten free selection
We don't have an Aldi near us. I just opened new store forget the name family dollar? bottom dollar? something like that...haven't been there yet but get the ad, stuff is really inexpensive but I usually buy organic I wonder if they even carry any.
Sigh, I have a fantasy that the grocery stores around are filled with foods that are full of nutrition and what my body and family needs on a daily basis to be healthy and vital life long ...
To me, the percentage of our budget we spend on food is not the point so much as what any percentage buys quality and nutrition wise. I'd gladly turn back the clock and buy the quality of food available in the 50's.
Also, in the 50's we were still mostly a rural population...My family spent "less" on food, because we raised our own and fished and hunted. We went to the store every two weeks and our list was short but peanut butter was usually on it, and oatmeal.
I try to shop the perimeter of a store as much as I can. Considering my discount toll for the bridge with EZpass is $1.25 getting $4.00 back pays for the gas to get there. It's definitely a perk.
Just amazes me that we keep hearing the same people screaming about oil co. profits, yet they say NOTHING about Apple's ungodly profits, despite their horrendous record of labor abuse. All about politics.
