Well, that's the problem with any natural mineral resource. The Bakken formation of oil shale is a big blob under northwest ND, northeast MT and southern Saskatchewan. I've been to the Badlands once. Some of the residents are suddenly getting nice chunks of change for mineral rights on otherwise low value property.
I don't like that our Appalachian mountains are cut off, ground up and burned (coal) either. In theory.

From the No Surprise File:

Latest estimate of the cost of the healthcare overhaul is DOUBLE what it promised to be. I would guess at least 4X when all is said and done.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Yeah because all the insurance companies now have have more employees to handle all the paperwork.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

"The article http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/14/opinion/why-i-am-leaving-goldman-sachs.html?_r=1&ref=business reignited a debate on the Internet and on cable television over whether Wall Street was corrupted by greed and excess."

THAT corruption was in question?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

More importantly, it has people talking about the Muppets! ;)
