I have something like that Victor.. not the exact ones but you have to be careful watering.. can only use a spray bottle or the blocks can fall apart .. until the roots hold it together

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow that is some list Celeste!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Let me know what you want Allison. :)
I figured you prob. had something along those lines.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

one year I tried to fill the bottom of that loaf pan.. and then put the blocks on top... was easier to water that way.. I gently poured along the sides.. and it stayed moist longer.. they can dry out quick .. still not sure if it's worth doing... can't stay in the little blocks long.. cow pots seemed easier .. but take up more space... I will use that if it's a new type of seed I haven't tried ... and not sure if it will germinate.. doesn't take up much space but does cause more work to pot up.. after a while I stopped using it and just filled the loaf pan... took less time to do

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Whoaa, Celeste!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Holey moley, Celeste!!!!!!!!!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i just smiled - that is a lot of seeds!

Thomaston, CT

Love your choices, Pixie, except for Celandine poppy which is a very invasive weed here....has prickles, causes a rash, and spreads like crazy...have been digging it out for years & can't get rid of it....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I collect hinged boxes. I found a page I saved from a mag with national garden club offering of boxes for 18.99 each.
totally had forgotten about it.

went on ebay and found these 2, got them cheaper

Nice.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

very cute

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

I went to walmart yesterday and, out of curiosity, walked through their garden center to see what they had out so far. I picked up pretty much all the seeds for the veggies and herbs I wanted (even though I know I have a few of the same herbs coming as trades, I couldn't remember which ones they were, so, figured, even if I buy some and have multiples from trades, that just means I'll have more seeds available for trades in the future!)

I got, carrots, "garden beans", tomatoes, onions, oregano, basil, cinnamon basil (more cuz I just wanna smell it after it grows LOL!). I still need to get some strawberries for our strawberry topsy turvey container, garlic, and lima bean seeds. And, if I have enough room, I might do a blueberry bush since my son has asked for one for the last 2 years LOL!

Thomaston, CT

Jen, love the box with the wheelbarrow.....Mrs. L, sounds like a good haul....my niece sent me an article about Brokenarrow Nursery here in CT....I've never been there, but the winterberrries & witch hazels sound very tempting.....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

marilyn i have ordered from them and they seem like nice people and have a great selection

Thomaston, CT

Thanks, Bill....I may take a ride down there, it's not too far.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

If I'm not mistaken, don't you need at least 2 different types of blueberries so you get pollination?

Territorial seeds came yesterday. Peas, beans, squashes, lettuces, cantaloupes. They sent a pack of kale along, too.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Those are wicked cute Jen!

I am now the proud owner of 5 new helleborus!!!

BERRY SWIRL
AMBER GEM
ONYX ODESSEY
PEPPERMINT ICE
JADE TIGER

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Think I have Berry and Jade.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i have those two from coop's

my territorial seed came and do not think i got any extra - except for the discount if i order again - makes me wish i made the first order smaller - burpee came today have not opened it yet

Thomaston, CT

Pixie, I love all of those!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes you should have 2 different blueberries for better pollination

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Th e kale wasn't on my order unless I hit an extra key. ;).

Hellebores are so pretty.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

guess I need another blueberry.. LOL

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, I didn't know you needed 2 blueberry bushes either. Does it depend on the kind of blueberry bush you get for that? Because, I saw on Amazon.com some seeds for an indoor blueberry highbush that you can grow in a pot indoors. I wouldn't imagine someone trying to have two 2-3 foot tall bushes in their house, much less, trying to polinate them by hand.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Blueberry plants are self-pollinating, which means that they do not require the presence of another cultivar to set fruit. Studies indicate, however, that planting as least two different cultivars with overlapping bloom times will yield larger, earlier ripening fruit. It is also increases the degree of successful pollination and total harvest. The single most important determinant of whether a crop will successfully set fruit is the availability of a high density of insect pollinators -- typically this refers to bees. Without sufficient bees, pollination will be inadequate and the crop will most certainly fail.

Also found this....
Two bushes minimum are needed for good cross-pollination. Although there are "self-pollinating" varieties, it is generally agreed that more than one bush gives the best pollination and therefore the best crop yield. The bushes do not have to be the same variety.

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

Hm, so does that mean that, say with the indoor blueberry high bush seeds I saw (and considered purchasing), that if I only have one bush indoors, it may produce fruit, just may not be as well as if I had two bushes and set them outside in the spring?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Self pollinating varieties:
Legacy
Northland'
'Bluecrop'
'Bonus'
Chippewa'
'Patriot'
