I think this is a house finch.
Daily Bird Pictures, Vol. 431
Just love that RC-Kinglet, Duc.
Nice waxwing, Lily. I haven't had any in the yard this fall or winter, saw a few in the Wichitas last week.
duc, Amazing how different your juncos look from the ones here. I have some dark ones and some slate-colored. I never have kinglets nearby.
But, I do have the bluebirds every day. Recent shots of Mama and Daddy.
Some shots from a snowy day in PA.
Female Cardinal sitting on edge of dust box (which, hopefully, the local cat has not used as a litter box).
Male Cardinal and a Carolina Wren dining in the snow.
Female Cardinal enjoying some BOSS.
Downy stocking up on suet.
Titmouse at the peanuts--his favorite place.
Beautiful pictures. The Cedar Waxwings hung around my place for a couple of days and are gone. My goldfinches have moved on as well. Seems too early yet.
Wow, this thread is so beautiful! Love all the great series of shots! Chickadees and Red-winged Blackbirds really look great that way.
Margaret, your birds look great in a series too.
Red, that red-shouldered shot is beautiful! I'd be upset if it ate a sapsucker though. That's what white-winged doves and house sparrows are for -- hawk food.
OK, can't compliment everyone, but really awesome! Love all the colorful little birds, the great close-ups and all the eagles!
I'm doing a duck/goose series! An ugly Muscovy, some pretty Egyptian Geese and a Ring-necked Duck.
The cardinals are beautiful in the snow and the ducks interesting, even the Muscovy. :-) Ice and snow in the forecast for this w/e, think I'm booking a hotel in the Rio Grande Valley in a bit and flying south to see some new birds for me.
A White-breasted nuthatch from the other day in the Wichitas. A Sage Thrasher has been seen recently on top of Mt. Scott, I went up at the end of the day and had no luck finding it. But, I did see a beautiful sunset.

Love that pics. Red. Awww, GrannyGrunt, the Cardinal in the snow is priceless! Love those cuties Wrens too.
Lily, glad the waxwings have returned-great photo. Nice one of the herons too.
Red, beautiful photos of mom and dad bb. Beautiful sunset photo-wow.
Granny, love your pretty birds too, especially that wren and the cardinals.
Burn great shots. I wish I could get our three starlings to come to a feeder.
Elphaba, also great photos. I love with the Egyptian Geese.
The lesser goldfinches were here yesterday to bathe and look pretty for a photo.
Wonderful pictures folks.
Oooops, I was admiring your water fowls Elphy and forgot to tell how much I've enjoyed them. Whoa, Duc, those Hawks are just about every where I looked lately, especially while I'm driving. I need to stop bird watching while I'm behind the wheels! So thank you for the photos. Those Lesser Goldfinches are so so cute. And the Bewick's Wren, I guess it's like my Carolina wrens, always begging for food. In my case it's the meallies that they demand. lol Oh the Waxwings, looks as if the two I saw earlier were scouts. They brought back a small flock later to feast on the Hollies berries. I'm so tickled that I saw so many of them this Winter.
Beautiful shots Margaret. Sure am glad you posted the Silver Gull looking at its feet. When in flight they disappear. LOL
That's marvelous quick hands you've got! Congrats teddy for successfully attracted the flickers to the feeder. I've many of the flickers, but rarely if ever have they come to ours. Great job!
Resin thank you for correcting the sparrow identity. White-troated sparrow it's!
Lily, enjoy the waxwings. They sure cleared out the berries here quickly. Glad you got a flicker too.
Margaret, beautiful photos of the tern and gulls.
Teddy, nice shot of your colorful flicker.
Pelle, love your titmouse shots.
Now I've got two red-winged blackbirds coming for peanut butter and seeds. Here's a female and a male (wish he had more red on the wings but all I got to see was a dot of red when he turned)
Lily, love that cage you have for the mealies. Cute wrens. I've noticed mine sure eat a bunch of food and it looks like yours do too.
Granny, sweet titmouse and junco.
This Bald Eagle spent most of the day sitting on "their" tree and just watching the ducks on the lake.
Also one of my House Finches.
Very nice pics. there Duc.
Lily & Duc...lovely photos from the both of you!!
Pelle...cute TT! Ours have been enjoying the nice warmer mornings and and lots of singing here. Today is not so nice.....windchills in the in the 2 below zero range!
Nice ones of your woodpeckers GG!!!!
A few photos from the last week. First up is a Female Pileated Woodpecker at the first of the week followed by a male Pileated who was here yesterday.
Also from yesterday a Carolina Chickadee and a Downy Woodpecker sharing the suet feeder and the a Hairy Woodpecker. It has come the last couple days but does not stay long...so no real good photo of him!
Last is a peekaboo shot of a crow thru the fence out at the pan eating corn. I had just been throwing the corn out in my garden area. But last week I looked out the window at about 5:30 pm and saw 4 deer out in my garden area!! So I decided I better go back to using the pan and bring it in each night. Saw raccoon tracks this morning in the area where I sit the pan. :)
