Burn, I don't like it when I type a long post then puffs! It vanishes. Hah that Starling looks really inquisitive. I hope Gold finches will stay here for a while. Those doves are fun to have around too.
Daily Bird Pictures, Vol. 431
Yes Mrs. Ed. Magnolias 'fixin' to bloom down here. These particular one belongs to neighbor....where the couple keep dozens of hummingbirds at a time. No wonder I only get a smaller share of 'em (hummers) in the garden during Summer. lol
Here is another pix of the "King of the jungle" on their Mag. lol
Good shots of the towee and blackbird, duc. burn, the goldfinches are a winter pleasure here. I have 40-50 daily.
lily, my YB sapsucker is now hawk poop thanks to this guy. Can't say I'll miss him much. I saw the sapscuker on a holly yesterday and was walking toward the door to run him off. He jumped down into the grass and took a couple of hops when this guy picked him up. No camera of course, but the Red-shouldered Hawks are spending time down on the creek. I need to walk it and see if I can spot a nest.
What's a delight to see those Cedar Waxwings in large flock, congrats mrw31.
They are eating berries in your shot -- judging from the residue on the ground, they were eating berries in my tree, too. Its seems too early, but this must mean spring is on it's way.
Nice shots, everyone.
I went down the river early this morning searching for nankeen Night Herons, which I believe are in the area. No sign of them. I did see some other birds, including Pacific Black Ducks and Little Black Cormorants.
Then, guess who comes along and lands on the top of a pole at the end of the jetty, but one of the Osprey juveniles. I thought I might have seen it fishing, but it was eventually chased off by two Magpie Larks.
Great shots -- love number 2 in the 2nd series. So clear and clean -- I need a new camera.
Great shots everyone!!!
Margaret, Love that White-faced Heron! Your shots of it are awesome!
Oh my gosh Margaret. These are wonderful. How great that one of the kids came by while you were there. Love the reflected shot.
Awesome series there Margaret, I was wondering too if the Osprey could be little Harry? Glad you've mentioned of the nictitating membrane on the bird's eye. The last pix showing the 2 chasing one another is sweet, as if they were playing chase.
Oh Mrs. Ed. Thanks for the head up on the up loading pix. I tried yesterday, I loaded 4 pics. but didn't have any written message. The program rejected my photos then, so I gave up and went to bed. lol.
Wonderful thread everyone and Mrs. Ed thanks for the great start. I love those Yellow-bellied Woodpeckers but they have been scarce in our area!
This is exciting to see that we can now post multiple images...wow!!
heard a hawk while coming back from the store and rushed in and got the trusty camera, got quite a few shots just in case any were good. This was one of the best so far, the branches were in the way, I will ask if anyone can do anything to this to make it more clearer so I can see what kind of hawk this is. He sat in the tree for quite a while and let me just click away and then he decided that was enough and flew away.
Duc, may I ask if you've peanut butter within the log's crevices? Those fellas and gals too seem to be very happy. lol
Yes Lily, the crevices were already there. On the taller log my husband drilled holes for the peanut butter/seed mix and smaller holes for the perches (we then put small sticks in there).
Pelle, beautiful photos! I could almost hear the singing.
LOL Duc. Been there, done that!!
Pelle, love the shots of the Dee and it has an eye and everything!! LOL
We had this Northern Flicker stop by one day last week....only got the one shot of him before he took off!
The group of 3 Mourning Doves was rather odd looking...like a singing group or something...maybe models! lol
Last shot is our resident Song Sparrow. It has been coming very regularly. I heard it singing this morning!
Like your choir of Mourning Doves, nanny.
Beautiful shots, as always, due.
Your little Chickadee is so cute, Pelle. Lovely sharp images.
A Silver Gull from down at the harbour this morning. (Thanks, Resin, I don't know where my head was)
Kim, I don't think the osprey was Harry. I thought it was Big Hook until I saw the white edging to the wing feathers, so I think it's a juvenile female. It was a big bird.

WOW! Great photos everyone ! Nice to see the birds with bright colors. Everything in Ohio is grey right now. I had to get rid of all my sunflower seeds. I am allergic to sunflower in every form. I bought safflower seeds and millet. Hopefully, the birds will get used to the change and still come to my feeders.
Countrymom, hope it works out for you and that winter soon change into spring. Lovely series of the dees Pelle. Nice in flight shot of the Tern Margaret. Nan, I enjoyed your trio shots, and the trio Doves as well.
