I have no idea what causes it. Otherwise, they look very healthy. Anybody know what causes it?

Sounds like mealy bugs or cottony cushion scale- If it is a small plant take a soft brush with alcohol & water (half & half) and brush the stuff. It can be hard to get rid of if it is down in the plant.
