ANTS!! ANOTHER infestation. This time, with air plants.

Applewood, CO

Hi again...

I have a couple of air plants here. Had them for a week. I watered them today, and ants are now crawling around my desk. The ants are pale orange or light brown....

I have such bad luck. I love these plants, but...ants? Really?

How can I get rid of them? I wouldn't think that pesticide could completely coat the inside of the air plants' bulbs...

ANY help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance,
Tina

From my own experience, I can say that Terro liquid ant baits are safe & very effective - usually wiping out even large ant colonies in a day or two. http://www.terro.com/ Snip the end of the bait container & set it where ants are active. They'll quickly find it & take it back to the colony where the other ants will consume it and perish.

You can go online & look for recipes to make your own, too. Usually something sweet, like corn syrup or honey, with a quantity of boric acid (available as an eye wash at drugstores) added is as effective as the commercial preparations.
