can?,or how can new ponytail palm from top of parent plant.

I have a ponytail palm that has been cut off and has three or four heads growing from it.I am curious if I can start a new plant or tree from one of these.

I am going to guess and say--"Yes--you can"....Keep in mind that it is, kind of, a succulent....

Using a sterile, sharp knife--cut the new growths off taking a little bit of the mama bulb tissue with it.
Lay the cut off sections somewhere to callous over and dry off for a few days. You want all the cut tissue to be dry.

Take as small a pot (4" will do) as the new cutting will fit into and pot it up, leaving the top part of the "bulb" out of the soil.
Stick some stakes all around it and tie them to the plant so that it will not move at all.
Keep the soil BARELY moist--for quite a while--and keep the plant out of direct sun.

I imagine these rooting in may take months and months--but it will might work.

NOW! If I were you--I would just allow them to grow like they are--on top of the other "bulb" and you will have
a wonderful, interesting Pony tail palm with several "heads" on it.
That is what I would do! It will look great as is!!!! Hope you reconsider!

Do you have any particular reason you want to cut those off and pot them up????
Many times people want to do things that is NOT always the best option--because they want to "play"
with a plant and see what happens. With some plants--there would not be a long-term consequence.
With something as slow-growing as a Pony tail Palm--it may take a couple years before the new plants settle in.
Sometimes--it is not good to "play"......!!

Just wanted to get some starts off of it.
