Quince

Plantersville, TX(Zone 9a)

Does anyone grow quince? I was wanting to see a picture of a Quince Bush. Is the fruit red?

The fruit I had on mine was shaped like and colored like a small green apple.

Ayrshire Scotland, United Kingdom

Don't have pictures I can send as I'm computer illiterate but I have several quince that I grow here in Scotland, they are really like small apples, mine are yellow / green coloured, but the blossom is lovely, it fills the trees branches from trunk to tip of branches, we make a jelly with ours and in winter it is given to kids as a warm drink to help sore throats and we have it on bread and butter too. you do need a lot of the fruit to make the jelly and as it is quite sour (acidic) you need loads of sugar which is great for anyone like me who has a sweet tooth,

Go on and grow some, they can be kept to a manageable size in a large pot on a patio but Not really hot sunshine all day long.
Good luck WeeNel.

I've been trying to find affordable quince for 3 years now. They all get sold out quickly, but I think I have a lead on some cuttings. Most of the ones I've seen are yellowish. They need to be cooked to eat because they are quite astringent, but they make a great quince paste, similar to a guava paste. YUM!
