I've killed a number of heucheras and tiarellas over the years by having the soil too rocky and dry and too close to the hungry bushes. That spot will get a viburnum soon as I fix up the area. Moved the last survivors to a new spot within reach of the downspout. We'll see if that does the trick.

Victor's lucky to have his own prescriber in the house. My DD is so secretive, she didn't tell me she applied for biochem major in a premed track. I found out when I called admissions to check that her scores made it in time. We might have to wait a long time for that privelege.

i think that totals 5,285 seeds - hope we don't start hearing "why did i plant so many seeds" complaints like sherri :)

I'm interested in seeing what the penstemon looks like....I ordered quite a few seeds as well, but I never have much luck unless they are a direct sow....that's why I love poppies & cosmos....

Im not telling what I ordered for seeds.....just the poppy seeds alone are embarrassing.

Penstemon seeded itself like crazy for me.

Victor, I've had penstemon Husker's Red self seed a few times, but other penstemons do not...I would love any of them in my garden....

Since I was corresponding with Gary, the owner of Classic Viburnums, it was a nice surprise that he phoned to finish my order. Considering I'm just a little homeowner and not in a position to wholesale his plants, he was very generous to share his knowledge. We had a really nice chat about growing viburnums. Then I ordered two-gallon pots of doublefile viburnums 'Shasta' and 'Pink Beauty.' I'm hooked!

My hope is a temporary moongarden effect on a hill during bloom season viewed through our kitchen window, berries for wildlife, and pretty tiered branches to view in winter. It's like fitting a piece into a puzzle.

Nearby are the yellow cornus mas, nympth lilies, purple early azaleas and rhodis and down below, a border of coral peonies may have to be moved a few feet to anticipate sun needs once the huge bush matures. Not sure when Shasta will bloom exactly, but it will have evergreen nearby in any case, and the promise of a longer show of blooms altogether.
