Couldn't have been that cold overnight there was no ice in the bird bath LOL
It's 40 now heading to 45....just going out to hang clothes.....can't believe this is January!
42 and sunny. very warm for us at this time of year
45 & sunny a bit of a brisk breeze.
Wind picked up and clouds rolled in brrrrrr
We hit 37 today, now dropping and a storm on it's way. Don't think this snow will melt right away......6+" in most spots. I hate to say it but it's about time!! After all, I do live in Maine and this is 'normal', so far this winter has been anything but normal!!
Anyone else concerned with what kind of damage it may have caused to some of our plants? No frozen ground or snow covering and temps ranging from minus 1 to 42 in the same week. CRAZY!
Yeah, I've been worrying about heaving plants....my agapanthus & oxalis especially....
The three irises which were moved too late have a rock sitting on the rhizome should be ok, but I worry about the smaller ones which may heave. Bir buds on the rhodie 'Nova Zembla' which I hope don't get damaged.
23 now going to 44
Salt hay is a comforting blanket (it comforts me to have it there). I've read about using microfoam on tender plants (i.e. camellias), and wonder if anyone has success with it. So glad the camellias aren't installed in THIS weather. My one pot croaked in one day when i misjudged the temp going down to 35, still not hard enough after a greenhouse summer and definitely wanting NO SUN.
We are @ 10 °F now, high of 24 for today. Have a severe weather alert already showing...most of you guys should be getting it before me. Looks like it's approaching PA. now, are they saying rain/snow/or a mix in your area?
I'm getting snow and mix with a possibility of a foot. More like 6-8" is my guess.
20 here with snow for later tonight, maybe 3", probably only 1"
Heavy rain here with about a 1/2 inch of snow in the NW Hills (here) before it changes to all rain......
Good morning,
Bright, sunny and 34 degrees heading for the 40's in WNY today.
Have a blessed and wonderful Wednesday, friends. ☺
-Dave
Only rain scheduled for here tonight into tomorrow
Guess I should go gently stomp down all my heucheras(I think probably one of the worst at upheaving)
40 and the sun is trying to peek through. calling for rain later today and then some snow. I would like a little snow to protect the plants.
Ugh! Hoping it stays rain here...I hate ice!
Clouds started rolling in around 3pm
Have I ever mentioned that I really hate snow?
I LOVE it! Wish we'd get some
Come see me tomorrow.
