Glad to see to you Julie! Looking forward to seeing your creation.
OK, mine is finished!!
I'll do the Merry Christmas side later.
Thank you Betty, another great workshop.
Thanks Debbie about the liner brush.
you working yours yet?
5th Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop...fun begins!
Judy, that is very pretty! Nice job!
Judy, looks pretty..did you antique the top and the bottom??? don't see the floated color, perhaps you wanted it light tone
Thank you!
I did the whole thing, was thinking it was a bit light, but at first it was way too dark, so wiped it off and did again.
Think I should do another coat?
Hi, all.
Started sanding last evening while we watched some TV :) Hoping to finish sanding this afternoon or evening. And I had my husband read through the instructions, too, in case he had any questions. So far, no questions...
By the way, been meaning to say that the candles smell wonderful! They smell just like one of my favorite teas :)
Have a great day, everyone!
Michelle
I would Judy, needs to have antiquing, but then it's my preference!
Michelle, hope you and hubby enjoy doing the craft..
Doesn't seem that many are doing project even though many received their kit??
Got mine today and all in one piece.
Try to work on it tomorrow.
Glad it finally arrived...
Believe all the kits are accounted for!

Sean and I have ours painted black. With him in school, I need to wait until the weekends and he was busy at home this past one. Hoping for next weekend....
I have to get a bit more sewing done. then I will do my candle holder...and I can hardly wait!!!!!
we pulled out some boxes of Christmas goodies, and we are slowly decorating. I bought a poinsettia, and a Norfolk pine tree today, and a few dusty miller....gonna decorate the kitchen island with them. came across some wooden pieces I made many years ago. jacket is fabric glued onto the wood.
Thunder, those are adorable! Nice job!
boy oh boy, I just looked at the plant in the background of that picture!!! it sure looks terrible!! it is a peace lily, any one know why the leaves are turning brown at the tips like that???
thanks LK
Not exactly Betty my box according to Canada Post should be in the Verona PO bt is NOT there, Hummmmmm, maybe it will magically appear when I contact via an 800 number the Supervisor for Verona's PO. Sure hope so!
You have all done such a wonderful job on your projects. you're making our Betty proud!!!
Mad I am..drats, making me fume that we are nearing two weeks on Thursday morning for a trip only about 250 miles..can't call that 'service'

This is not the first time I have had problems with the mail at this time of year. About 5 years ago I took part in a DG Christmas Swap. Sent my parcel early knowing the problems one can run into....... parcel nevere made it to the sender but was returned to me empty box with Return To Sender on it..... much like the box of glass supplies I had coming from Point Claire Que that same season. I was able to replace items in my box and get it to my buddy on time,,,, unfortunately my Glass Supplier was out several hundreds of dollars and I didn't get my bevels or solder.
Just heard a new warning for brief periods of freezing rain this morning . *SIGH* My favourite travelling weather.... NOT.Betty, Thea, Debbie if you have to go out this morning and I know you do Betty. drive careful.
Dianne
Very mild here Dianne, you be careful..so mild today, by Thursday high of 11 - imagine!!! Just hoping that the parcel will be there..
Mild here also DIanne, I actually went out in the yard with Izzy....who is basking in a sunbeam, even though its full of snow. I used the walker so not to fall....just balance. We have trip to Brockport this afternoon for blood work and PT.
Two coats of paint on my candle....have the crackle "setting up". Watched paint never dries!
Isn't that the truth! enjoy your outing Debbie, even if it is to give blood and tests..my turn tomorrow..Dianne, hope your day goes well..
B E T T Y.........H E LP!
I could not get the graphite to work at all....tried both sides, knew what I was doing...honest!
It wouldnt' transfer to the wood. I did a pencil sketch out.....and had to do freehand. It looks....nasty!
HOW do I fix it? Sand it down and do that side/steps again? Paul said he can make a stencil or such....and do a "dab it on" with sponge. Ahhhhh!
That is not the paint I sent in the kit is it..mne was more a golden yellow, think that's why its look a bit shabby..
Usually when graphite does not work is because the paint you are applying it to is damp..After I did my crackle I bet I waited a good 3 or 4 hrs. so no dampness in the wood..my guess is that is what it could be..
If you truly are not happy with it I would sand off the top and redo OR when you take the tint that I sent it will cover a magnitude of sins..
You can also take your liner brush and with base coating go in color reverse and tidy up the black
doesn't look TERRIBLE..I think if you tidied it up and antiqued it well you would be fine
Betty, yes that is the paint you sent....exactly. I think it is the light in the room fading it out. It is actually a brighter color than shows in the picture.
on the yellow side?
Yes, yellow base colloring.
Hi,
Debbie, I think you did a pretty good job with free handing!
Been waiting and waiting to find out what you've decided...did you sand and re-do?
if not maybe you could take the yellow and just very carefully outline or over line.
Thats what I am trying Judy...waiting for it to dry so it doesnt smear.
Ummm, Betty....guess what? The tint vial is empty. Nothing in it at all! LOL It was taped shut also.
Dh has some stains downstairs...so will just use some of those.
Omg Debbie, that is what happens when you are on drugs. Lol
ROFLMBO...and what is MY excuse!
What shade of tint/stain should be best to use. I have about 5 colors and such here.
You know I'm not going to recommend stain, not sure if it will move smoothly across the piece..I used a mixture of sienna and brown acrylic paint, likely 1 on 1
Trying to think what else you might use!
I have more acrylic paints....do I just water it down for a thinner appearance? I have several browns and possibly a sienna! For some reason thought your "tint" was a stain.
I am home alone (Hubby has a sleep study tonight) and can`t sleep anyways...soooooo I sanded and put first coat of paint on!!
Having a lot of fun...just wish the paint would dry faster...I am on a roll!! lol
Thea, don't rush it...or you will end up with the problem I did. My "transfer paper" wouldn't transfer because it wasn't a "hard" dry. I made a mess.
*waving* hellooooooo Debbie and Betty!! Wish we all could sit around the table and work on the project together!!
That would be so nice....and then I could have some assistance.
Betty will never let me do one again...I made a mess! LOL Do not even ask what I did to the kitchen table....with paper down too! And DS his his paint brushes.
LOL Debbie...I used an old plastic placemat...and uhmmm well it is blackish now...thank god those paints are water proof...I had paint all over my hands...and I am sure if I looked closer at my PJ it is full of speckles too...lol
You are doing great Debbie!!
Man could we get into trouble waiting for the paint to dry...Uhmmmm I have homemade liquer we could try...blackberry, raspberry, blueberry...comeeeeeeee on over!!!!
Oh yeah and I still have mary's chocolates...lol...man am I hyper...should stop eating them before bedtime...LOL
Ohhhh Thea....I would like to try the blackberry, oh wait...and the raspberry. Its fruit...what could it hurt ! lol
Yes, I am multi colored from the "craft". DH told me to try and use a tint.....I did some touching up. It is off center...but think I have an idea to remedy that. IF it doesn't work...he will get out his little sander for me tomorrow.
I have black freckles from a fight cleaning out the paint brush. I lost.
OMG you are still up too...lol
I just finished putting second coat of black on and will let it dry till tomorrow...
Yep all the berries are good for you...VERY benefitial (sp?)...and well the alcohol desinfects and fights disease...LOL
After a few drinks we might see more then Betty's crackle...LOL
ROFL, yes.....don't see much on the crackle til after the yellow is applied but....some "livations" added will speed things up!
I can't believe I am still up. And I took two vicodin today! I should be unconsious, especially after PT.
Well....going to try and get some sleep.
Sweet dreams
Same too you Debbie...talk again tomorrow about those cracks...lol
Debbie maybe when we all get together at Betty's in the summer of 2012 (hint, hint to you - you could come here and then I could drive us up in the Tang) you and I could have a tutorial from Betty on how to do this craft!
