5th Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop...fun begins!

Verona, ON

Yes Betty they would leave a card in the mailbox if the parcel was here in Verona. I went into the PO yesterday to mail some presents off so asked the Post Mistress about the parcel. She claims it has not been in their mail deliveries. Although the 2 other times when we had our mail courier dead to rights about NOT delivering mail she defended him until we were able to get the Tracking Numbers and show her the parcels had been in her PO.

Drive careful everyone here in the north - lots of sleet and snow forecasted here. Give me the snow please!

Hi, Betty.
Haven't received my box yet, either. Perhaps it will come later this afternoon or tomorrow. Will let you know either way.
Think I'll go peek at the instructions anyway... :)

Might take a bit longer Michelle, I don't think that Liz got her box either

Let me know

I'm getting antsy now knowing some have not received them

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I got my box today!! thanks much !!! ((((((((((((((((((((Betty)))))))))))))))))))) ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wonderful Thunder, every year I start fretting about delivery of all, worried that some don't receive them. Postal service both Canadian and USA should buy me nerve pills, either that or hurry up with delivery.

Laura, all the east coast boxes have been received, was hoping yours had..

Pacifica, CA

yaaaaay got my box today!!!

Mountain View, CA(Zone 9b)

Got mine too!!! :) Will have my husband check the wording and help make sure all is there. From my initial inspection, it looks like everything is intact. Bet what the postal worker heard was the metal stars of the wreathes tapping against the glass candle holders. When I first opened the box, before I knew what was making the sound, I heard them against the glass and was concerned that something might have broken. But after carefully looking to see how everything was, I was pleased to discover that nothing broke. And I figured out what was causing the sound :)
Anyway, I'll have my husband check the wording, etc., Saturday afternoon and then get back to you. Was hoping to have him look at things tonight, but it was a late day at work for him, so we didn't get to it. But I at least wanted you to know the box arrived!

Wonderful, sigh of relief

Now if Laura's parcel arrives I can stop fussing and the work lies with you!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg look at that crackle, holly smolly. You did good,
Are you now going to antique??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

As soon as I get pictures to show me how? Don't want to mess it up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't really know that I can capture that part in photo's ..did you read my 'to do'. Know it was wishing washy but read it and ask me what you don't understand and I'll lead you through it

Few girls wanted to do a few more..so ordered 8 more blocks this morning..likely won't get them until end of week..that will make 50 in total

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OK, I read it again, I will give it a try. Wish me luck!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rat a tat tat, waiting impatiently for you to do this step..is it working??

Glenview, IL

Thanks for the workshop Betty, you have taught me another craft technique! These were pretty easy, once I got passed the fear factor of messing it up!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good girl LindaKay..only difference in mine it I worked it back and forth to leave the center bit more yellow..it's all in how you see it..everyone has a preference..
gold star for you! Those little snowmen aren't for the piece but it does look pretty.

Now to see the others ...smiling here knowing you didn't find it overwhelming nor should they..actually, your crackle turned out better than mine..any tricks of the trade??

Question is , are you pleased with outcome? Wasn't hard staying between the lines was it!
Will you keep them or are they gifts..mine are gifts for neighbors and friends

Thought if sewing got to me tonight I'd gift wrap, bought clear bags for them but have a major headache, took a Tylenol 3, bath and Jammie's..maybe just laying down and resting might get my energy level up for night shift

Meant to add, if you have varnish, urethane or varathane, you could give it a protective coat...I prefer Matt...gloss makes it look like plastic

I just followed your directions, I applied a good coat of the crackle, let it dry, then applied the yellow! Had to work pretty fast, as it starts to crack just as soon as the paint hits it! Staying between the lines was difficult, as I can hold the paint brush, or anything to write with properly, since I broke my finger. Hubby asked why I was painting with my finger sticking out, and I said, remember, I broke it! He said... OH I forgot! LOL!
I think I will keep it like it is. I am very happy with the outcome! Thanks again for a wonderful workshop!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes, never even thought about how difficult it would be to hold a brush and paint with your finger the way it is...guess 2 gold stars!

Lexington Park, MD

No box here Betty.
Did you receive my card yet??????

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not yet, am sure I will get it shortly..

Michelle and Liz just got theirs yesterday so perhaps you will get your Monday!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Wonderful job LindaKay. Those came out soooo nice!!! Hope Sean will content to take his time when we do ours. The 2 coats of black paint are done. Maybe he can come tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

If he does Barb, you should be very close to finish by end of day!

Mountain View, CA(Zone 9b)

Betty, just a quick note to say everything looks good. Had my husband check the wording, and all looks good :) Hope to start working on it soon!

Betty, DH said I am doing mine tomorrow morning....and he is going to make two more for the girls he likes it so much. Said the girls would love that. Wondering if I will do different wording on theirs......gotta think that over.

He wants to make them for the girls so he can go by a new "bit" for his drill...I know his game!

Those turned out very very nice!!!

Verona, ON

LOL at Paul!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg Debbie, Paul is a character. Lol. Would be nice to make them for the girls though, they would appreciate a hand made pressie.

think I will be visiting this thread a lot today to see all of your progress...

Michelle, have fun with hubby!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Great job LK !!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone.

Debbie, how are you doing on yours?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

No Sean today so I'm sewing instead. Got our tree up this morning and another set of mug mats made. Time to chill for a while...

Glenview, IL

LOL, Betty, im stumped already!!

Which one of these is a liner???

Judy, my guess would be black one 4th from left in....or one of the very thin green ones.

Someone chime in.

OH, I was supposed to start it? Ooooops!

Tomorrow I promise!

Victoria Harbour, ON

The one with the sharpest end and least amount of brush hair..Debbie led you in right direction..

Company just left now I'm off and running but will try to post a few photos

If not now then when I return..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Little heavy on the crackle medium..you don't want your crackle too heavy because if it is, difficult to read the wording and painting the wording

I hate that I missed this workshop, but I think the craft is beautiful! Got some wood, paints, etc. and gonna try to make one from what I have around.
