Another shot, not quite in focus. Camera at full zoom. Olympus SP560UZ.

Well I'll have to wait until later in the week for some sunshine to hit the field again but I have a few to share from the other day.
The male Hooded Merganser will be who i,m looking for later in the week..have spotted a few hanging around in a nearby creek..hoping their still there then.
Only managed to get a quick shot of this one..but would love to be able to get some more time with them.

Red, I'd be happy to see all those red-winged blackbirds. I see some Rustys and a house sparrow too. I keep looking for the rare rusty to return here, but it just stayed five days. If you get a chance, would you get a couple pictures of the male Rustys for me? I keep thinking one of my male Brewer's looks more Rusty but can't get a photo of it.
Beclu, nice shots of the hawks. Hope they won't stay long and scare off your little birds.
Lily, your flicker looks quite happy.
GP, cute cardinal. Do these birds eat the berries on your crepe myrtle? My birds seem to ignore them. Love that bunting!
Burd, loved all your photos. The Mergansers and that bb are gorgeous!
Ladi, great shots of your merganser and goose too.
I found a Hooded Merganser too, but not a good as all of yours.
Thanks for the new thread Chilly and a nice start with your Harris Sparrow. I love seeing that bird in their bleeding plummage...such a different looking sparrow.
Too many nice shots to comment but I have enjoyed all the pics shared here.
Not much picture taking around here..cold..dark...etc..!!
I was concerned when our Goldfinches disappeared for longer than usual but they have returned in numbers and I got some shots a few days ago.
Great photos everyone.
Dellrose, loved all your different birds.
I saw a Great Horned Owl just at daylight sitting on the one Utility pole in my yard. He was very large. I have to keep a close eye on my puppy when i let her out. The owl is probably pretty hungry and Lady Wren only weighs maybe 4 lbs. There are so very many English Sparrows here that the rest of the birds have a hard time getting anything to eat..
It is only about 30 degrees outside. A little weak sunshine, but at least the wind isn't blowing. Hope most of you have good weather.
Donna
Beautiful pictures everyone. I really enjoy those that are seen in different climates from my own. I love winter, but I also am really enjoying the color you all have in other areas.
Dellrose, before learning the Harris's name, I called them Bearded Mohawks. We had only seen them in breeding plumage in the spring as they were heading back north.
This is my very first picture of a Bald Eagle. It was taken two miles from home. There's hope it may become a yard bird yet. :D
Donna....Jealous you had a GHO in your yard...but do keep an eye on your little puppy! I have heard them here where I live but have yet to see a GHO yet!
Rose awesome shots....keep hoping for a nice day and I can go get a photo of the Kestrel I see all the time heading to Greencastle!
So many wonderful pics from everyone!
Thank you!
Nice shots, everyone. That Great Black-backed Gull is gigantic, Ladi Burd.
We see flocks of White-tailed Balck Cockatoos around here. Unfortunately, it brings no joy, as I know I'm watching a bird that is being pushed closer and closer to extinction because of habitat destruction. The last couple of weeks I've seen small flocks of black cockies, but they were making a different sound. I thought they may have been juvenile White-tailed. I took a couple of really quick shots as they flew over the osprey nest the day before yesterday. It wasn't until I download the shots that I saw that what I've been seeing are actually Red-tailed Black Cockatoos.
Rose, your goldfinches are beautiful. I love planting the sunflower seeds, but the only ones that come up seem to be some from my birdseed feeder. Oh well, whatever works! Great shots of all your birds.
Donna, lucky you seeing that owl.
Chilly, congrats on your eagle.
Burn, love that jay photo.
Lily, glad you found the rookery-come on spring!!
Margaret, great shot of the cockatoo.
Here's a few Double-crested Cormorants enjoying the sun.
