My parsley aralia fainted

Sylvester, GA

its just a baby, i pulled two tiny sprigs form someones plant in august and put it in the pot with another plant to root. sometime last month i put it in a pot of its own. It was doing well and had even grown two more limbs.yesterday morning it had simply collapsed! I watered it and left it sitting in water for a couple hours and this morning it had stood up a lot, only not completely. Should i water it again? or just wait and see?
I sat it back in a pot with no holes with rocks and water noty quite high enough to touch the flower pot.

If you watered it and then left it sitting in water for a couple hours I definitely wouldn't give it any more water at this point. Too much water is just as bad for plants as too little water and can cause similar symptoms.

hmm. no ideas as to what i should do? should i stop trying to give it more humidity?

Aralia responds very well to being allowed to get very dry between waterings. When you over-water, two things (can) happen, and one DOES. Lack of O2 in the root zone impairs root function and metabolism, making it exceedingly difficult for the plant to move water upward, no matter how wet you keep the soil. In effect, your plant dies of thirst immersed in a sea of plenty. The other thing that CAN happen is root rot, and aralia is a plant that seems to have little resistance to that malady. The symptoms of root rot are often the same as the symptoms of impaired root function from anoxic conditions in the root zone - wilting & eventually necrosis of leaf tips/margins followed by collapse of the leaf and eventually the entire plant.
