Northeast Gardening: Weather In Your Garden # 108
34 high of 41 today. Looks like snow showers tomorrow. :(
Selby Gardens is a MUST see place. I used to go there long ago. Can't wait for the pics to brighten the gloom of impending winter. It's 39F and warming now. I've been reading about how to harden camellias, so for now the pot is inside. Had to stop myself from buying a needle palm and a Sago palm yesterday when I went to see the Lyman estate historic greenhouse (again) at lunch time.
Chilly, but nice. 36 and clear. Slight breeze.
Good morning.
Currently 33 degrees with brilliant sunshine in WNY.
Have a blessed and thankful Thursday, friends, ☺

high of 50° expected....sunny and breezy....nice day
45° & sunny. Really froze my fingers weeding yesterday. The soil is damp, so the grass came out, but that's it for weeding until spring.
Cannot believe you are still weeding, Iris! It was very sunny & 45 here today, but the wind cut right through me on the dam......
Weeding?!! What's that?!
Had to & much was not accomplished. With all the rain the grass had grown up in the iris beds again. Hands will not take any more, so it will be a mess in the spring.

Brrr!. 29F now. Even the teenagers turned around to get coats. Supposed to get warmer, mid 50's.
31 and clear.
It looks like December out there....very cold night, rebounding to 40s this afternoon....
41° & bright sun. Air seems still.
Good morning.
Rain mixed with snow and cold in WNY.
Have a blessed and fantastic Friday, friends. ☺

It's 37 degree's now, high of 39 today.
Nice day
37 and cloudy. winter is back!
41° No wind so not difficult to do errands.
Reached 52 here....just lovely for this time of year. Yes, DoGooder, it was a great Nov.
nice day today looks of raking done
What exactly does raking done look like?? ^_^
Paradise! It's 41 now, headed up to 45....sunny, no complaints here.....
Sunny and 40, just got our Christmas tree.
got up to 52 today. very cloudy, DH is at church working on the outside decorations there.
Sounds like everyone is enjoying the nice day! We are as well.
We haven't gotten our tree yet, Debi, but Hank has done a nice job of decorating the tall palm tree in the front yard.. He also hung large gold, red & silver balls from our clump of 3 Christmas palms. The tall palm has white lights wrapped around the trunk, green lights around the base of the fronds and a red bow with two large silver bells at the top between the white trunk and the green fronds. It was all his little project and it looks very nice.
Sounds nice Louise!
This neighborhood really goes in for nice decorations. You might not think Florida could be very Christmasy, but it really is - including live Christmas trees that don't lose their needles any faster than up in NH. I do miss the snow of a white Christmas though. New England is a special place at Christmas, and I do miss that! :)
The sand makes a white Christmas in Florida.
Most of our Christmases have been snowless in the last 30 years.....that's OK with me! We trek up to the Mayflower Inn which is on top of a mountain.....
This one is really long, join me here on a new thread.

it helps to proof read:)
LOL, Rosemary! I have lots of memories of sunbathing on Christmas Day as a teenager and during college breaks. So now you know how I ended up with a melanoma. :(
I hope the melanoma isn't a serious one! I used to sunbathe on Christmas break too. Parents sold the property on Siesta Key, but I still miss it. Last I heard, the sign I painted at Westwind cottages was still there.
It was in my 20's, and only requires a yearly check now. I love Siesta Key! I can understand why you miss it.
Whew! I'm glad you're OK.
Dear all from all over! Have loved the Nov. (unusual sun) that helped me so late to leaf-shred my tons of Maple leaves and cover all my home per. beds ~ Oct. killing frost, I would have been doomed. (Only a few bags, compared to 10, made it to camp where we spend the summer, to cover first the new strawberry plants under the plant material & not to smother them, 2 yr. old Russian Yellow Hollyhocks, and the closest fruit trees uphill from the parking lot. Suspect all way-up-hill Hydrangers will be in trouble by spring .... we really do need insulating snow. (As the VT ski industry is also praying for as we are snowless so far compared to last year & the holiday ski season so lucrative.)
Just a little aside note: heavy chippied leaves all over in front garden, light post, etc. but almost a miracle, that crazy purple & white annual allysum, even a trickle branch of copper colored portulaca around my light pole, now adorned over fake boughs with red & white Christmas lights .... is still blooming. Me thinks many mornings are colder than a "witches" you know what, and these annuals are still blooming!?! Plus all kinds of naughty weeds like Creeping Charlie, Creeping Jenny, and Aruga which has made twirling inroads into our lawn.
Belated Thanksgiving greetings, and best to all for the upcoming Christmas and New Years!
