5th Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop....all invited

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well here I am, who could have imagined that doing my 1st DG Christmas Craft would lead to a 5th...not I!!!

From the Best/Worse and What did I learn thread a few girls decided that maybe as we couldn't get together in the person and their wanting to do Victorian Santa Christmas sleighs that we'd try our luck with doing a workshop on-line here..

Now because of the artistic skills needed and listening to all saying they'd never done such projects we decided to keep it where anyone could join in and have a work of art after it was done..hopefully no-one would be disappointed!!!
The sleighs were beautiful and all enjoyed..many of their friends and relatives received homemade treasures that year..omg was that 2007??? Time flies...

The following year the 2008 DG Christmas Project Workshop doubled ... a Victorian Santa it would be, omg you can't imagine how wonderful these santa's turned out, bet over 100 were done in all, each and everyone different than the other. A great success!!

Our 3rd. year we enjoyed several projects, all mostly Snowmen, I also included a kit to make iris folding Christmas cards..all enjoyed and I'm sure additional cards were made and sent out..

Our 4th. year all enjoyed snowman and trees on a base..even some grandchildren participated which made it even more endearing...

Here we are in 2011, some have asked and are looking forward to a 5th Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop. Think I enjoy it more than those who participate..lol

With postal charges going up, crafting supplies considered, it's always a challenge to come up with a project for $20.00!!!

Guess you'd like to see one? those of you who have participated in previous years will vouch for the quality of the projects and the excitement in doing them. "Craft project" in a box that's what they are..a project that each and everyone of you can do..simplified in order to take away the 'I couldn't do that!" Believe me you can.

The Candleholder could be done in stain only, or in colors of choice

Truly is a fun project soooo if you feel as though it's something you wish to do, please sign your name and a kit will be cut for you

I'm going to Buffalo on the 5th and would like to mail the kits from your side of the border..Canadian kits possibly earlier..

I will get my cricuit cutter out and key in the wording on "mac tac" to see if I can include your special "wording" rather than you having to paint it. Am so hoping it works..

Craft in a box will include:

. wood candle holder 12" long x 2 1/2 "wide x 3 1/2" tall
. glass container with candle inside
. christmas wreath (decorative)
. wording of your choice..(should this mactac cut out on cricuit work) remember if the wording does not have a Christmas wording such as 'merry christmas' this project could be left out all year round, another bonus
. painting supplies

I'll go check for photo's of previous workshops so you can see what others enjoyed doing!

For Payment, I would ask as the shipping bill will be substantial that you send me $20.00 either cash (always gets here) or postal money order as soon as you can and that way postage will be looked after. Address in the addy exchange..

Fun group..let's see who joins in...

5TH ANNUAL DAVES GARDEN CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP -

My thoughts is to close for participants by November 23rd. which will give me a week and a bit to cut and box up supplies.

Will be over in Buffalo on December 2nd. and will mail from their, which gives us plenty of time to finish our project.

As always I'll pick up a date to be on-hand for all those who can make it, if not

I'll post instructions (prior to said date) and will also be available for anyone wanting directions (will give me something to do here at work)!!!!

If I've rambled and I have not explained myself, please comment on the thread and I'll clarify...

Hope to see your name in the group...

oops, Katie must have thought we changed threads..will ask her to delete and copy to Best/Worse/What did I learn today? thread...

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Katie, I think you are in the wrong room, this thread is for the Christmas work shop....

Betty, is that "candle base" a turned over box?? some candles are on the table behind the box???
the red candles are on the box, that is the project ??? yes??!!

would you be doing letters out of paper?? and we would glue them on?? very curious here!!!

count me in!! and I will be thinking of what I want to say on my box :)

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

you posted while I was typing ...Hi Betty :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder, it's a solid block of wood, painted black then crackled (or could be entirely stained) the front is painted beige, bit of antiquing (which would be included) .

letters made in mactac would be added after the black, antiquing done leaving the lettering intact, front of block painted in color of choice, mine is beige, then the letters removed so background of black lettering shows up.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

cool :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, add my name to the list please? Would pieces of wood sent to assemble be cheaper to mail than the solid wood?

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, it is a solid block of wood with me drilling with forsner bits for glass to fit in..if I get time, a surprise piece will be included!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Ohhhhhhhhhhh count me in too!!!
That looks beautiful...I would like the colours as they are in the picture with the same wording please.
I am so looking forward of doing this craft :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are joining in Thea..not only looks pretty but smell pretty..lol

Laura,LindaKay and Thunder, think of what wording you'd like to have..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I would like the words Bless this home if there is enough room!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh I'm so excited to see a lot of my favorites posting..for those that didn't pick wording, please do..

Verona, ON

Home Sweet Home works for me too Betty!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just added it Dianne..I like that as well, means I can leave it out all year and enjoy..will be going to your favorite haunt, Meaford, to get candles and wreath..found the glass candle holders which look like flower pots so one thing I'll not worry about.

I'll call in this morning and have them dress some wood to meet our requirements..that way I only have the holes to drill and wording..nothing to much as my right arm is not giving me any peace...

LOL as you can tell, had to go back and re-read 3 times and try to clarify..when your mind is working and taking high pain meds, amazing what you type that you think you've thought over and makes no sense at all

Pacifica, CA

meeeee too!
