Martha, great growing but I have to add that your Cissus amazonica has now out grown my own. It sure has thrived for you and you made me smile for all that you are doing with the Turkey hen that cannot fly. I would be doing the same and not feel one bit bad about it either! Call me a sucker too;)
Tropical Garden #113
Debra,
here's Gordon's Picotee, I've got 2 seed pods that just split open that I'm drying now. I grow it in the ground, and it's came back from last years freezes. I've had to cut it back back twice.
Rachel, I love love love that vine !.
Once it got going this summer it was like there was no stopping it. I've given cuttings to two of my neighbors. One thing I discovered it it really like Fish Emulsion Fertilizer and very bright light even a tiny bit of sun. Really brings out the red on the underside of the leaves. But boy oh boy, it would eat the greenhouse if given half a chance !! LOL
dyzzypyxxy thanks for the information on the heliconias...your pictures convinced me to give them a try. My area is under a live oak, in fact most my tropicals are under that oak. They seem to do very well under there and are protected a bit more when we get a freeze.
mjsponies, I am envious of that green house.
My crimson passi, blooming like crazy now and taking over everything it can...reminds me of the poinsettia.
sunkissed I love your firepit area !!
Yup, greenhouse comes in pretty handy !!
very nice fire pit...love the chairs! We are about to build one also.
Yes it is; and a beauty at that Paula! Maybe have an adult beverage out there Sunkissed?
Gardeners are just good people; I as well would help the turkey also Martha!
Seems he's out sorta late Paula!
sunkissed, love the new pit, and the yard is so inviting. Just love it.
GAgirl1066 Oh how sweet your dime size friend, as well as being so cute.

Good morning, everyone! Ya, those tree frogs are cute until one drops from a tree and into your hair or jumps out of a flower pot on to you!
When I was carrying the heliconia to my backyard one of those little tree frogs jumped out of it onto my arm. I was just glad it didn't hop on my while driving my Jeep with the plant in the back...that could've been a disaster!
Homer if you look close enough there is a nice cold one on the table.
GAgirl....The wood chairs are wonderful, we have had two for over five years and recently bought the other two...they are made in USA and made well. Lakeland Mills is the company and they stand by them. We got the first ones through Home Depot...but went straight to the company for the second ones...they had free shipping. Got a swing from them years ago...it was all I ever wanted and I sit on it everyday.
I'd love to invite everyone to come sit by the fire with me...wouldn't that be fun?
Heck yea!

Ok, I see the flowers better, now. I hope this is the one you sent me, 'cause it's growing well!
Kay yes that's the one I sent you.
THANK YOU and Happy Thanksgiving, Martha and EVERYONE!
Well long time no see since I have been on the West Coast. Merry Xmas Everyone kayJones Joeswife Prita and all others. Well my Mom is going to SC the 17 of January and looking for a place she wantsto move she is tired of the snow and the cold weather and my younger Brother lives there with his GF who is really nice. So I hope to be there when our lease is up here. Which I think it is up in June good time to go south I can start planting. So KayJones if you still want to get rid of some red canna tubers and some alocasia I will be letting you know as I sure can plant them there that is for sure.
James, I'll be happy to share. It would be cheaper for you to drive to my place than to mail them!
Yea, another tropical gardener in SC. Where is your mom looking? SC has 3 distinct zones, the mountains - zone 6 & 7, the midlands and northern coast, zone 8 and the lowcountry, zones 8 & 9 if you are in the right spots. Y'all come down soon now, hear!
LOL, Alice!!!!
I am sure that it would............lol
