is my crocus a saffron one?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

The stigmas look too fancy so I don't think so, the saffron one produces just three bright red stigmas

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone! :)

Wha, that could be. It's the only one I have... It was labeled Crison Queen but I got it at Walmart so it is very possible it was labeled wrong. It has grown a lot since I planted it. I think I planted it in 2006..

Allison I'm going to check out your album after I post.. :)

I forgot to take a picture of my Toad Lily. I ran out and got one but it was a tad too dim for getting good pictures. This is actually it's first year that it is rather impressive to me. I planted a dried up tiny looking root out of a box from Walmart. (probably in 2006) That was my first spring here and I didn't know any better lol. It hasn't been much more than a few stems up until this year. It is actually a good sized clump. Maybe it just liked the weather better this year too. :)

like that one Meredith!!

Thanks Allison! I checked out your album and everything is beautiful! This is the time of year I really notice when I didn't plant enough annuals. Of course the year I slack off is a year the frost holds of this long! That's just my luck. ;) I'm not sure about your crocus but I think it has too many stamens.. Is that what Jen already said? I had some at my old place, so far I haven't seen any here and I did try and plant some from a blooming bulbs co op a few years ago. They send up foliage but I haven't seen a flower so far. :(

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah Jen thought the same too.. mine either.. same deal.. see the grassy foliage.. no blooms.. I swear they rot every year.. and I even planted some right behind the stone of the retaining wall.. don't know why they don't grow for me

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

The ones I did have bloomed the year after I planted them.. They didn't bloom until Thanksgiving! Maybe it just has been too cold too early the last few years.

Wha I looked at some pictures of the tamukeyama and it does look like it. I did plant that JM in 2006. It was tiny! I found the picture I put in my journal after planting it.

Joann I checked out that link It is soo cool! I especially love the roses. They take days to do that, so it looks really cool seeing it quickly :)
