Summer squash/pumpkin cross-pollination?

Pulaski, GA

I planted yellow squash, zucchini and pumpkin seeds all in the same row. They all bloomed at the same time. I have lots of squash and zucchini that look just like they are supposed to, and taste wonderful. I have just two pumpkins but they look like what I would imagine a squash/pumpkin cross might look like. Sorry I don't have pictures. Is it possible the bees have cross-pollinated them?

if so last year

Concur. Squash and pumpkin is a squash are very promiscuous within species. But the crosses don't show up until you save seeds. ( the next generation)

Like the others said, cross-pollination is possible but it won't affect this year's fruit - it will only show itself next year if you plant the seeds from this year's fruit. (Corn is one of the exceptions to this - since the corn crop is the seed, and crosses affect the seed, certain crosses can affect the quality of the corn in the year of the cross. I believe that the same is true of cotton. But it's not true for squash.)

So if this is the result of a cross, the cross happened last year. You may have gotten a seed or a plant that resulted from an inadvertent cross.
