Best Rock Garden Grasses for Hawaii?

Anyone have suggestions for tropical zone turf varieties for Molokai Hawaii that that would be useful for creating mossy effects in rock gardens without taking over the area? Turf that has tillering roots, like some zoysias (Temple grass and Emerald Zoysia) would be too aggressive but maybe there are others that will keep within their appointed bounds. I am considering centipede grass from seed as this seems more of a shallow rooted, controllable fellow. Area is full sun for now.
