Ground cover ideas around grape vines?

Middleburg, FL(Zone 9a)

I have some grape vines that are about 5 feet away from my house on the east side so they get the morning sun. They are on a slope and we get some pretty heavy rains here in North Florida, so I'm worried about erosion. I want to plant this ground cover between the house and vines and around the vines and wouldn't care if it was invasive because the property just keeps going down a slope and there is nothing in front of it for probably 60 yards which goes down to a large pond. I don't have a sprinkler system down there so during the really hot/drought months of summer they wouldn't get hardly any water but would need to be able to live in somewhat moist conditions when we have our Florida rains. I like the idea of Thyme, but I don't know if there would be enough sun behind the grapes between the house and this is the area that I mostly want them. Right now there is mostly weeds. Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

I tried creeping thyme here in MS but it didn't like our humidity. Not sure how humid it gets in north FL but you might want to check before trying thyme. Right behind your grapes where you say it's shady you could put the dwarf variety of periwinkle--it likes shade. I put it along the wall of a flowerbed I have that faces north and it has spread very nicely but it has stopped short of the sunny area. I like it for living mulch because it's not aggressive around my other plants, doesn't get very tall and doesn't climb up anything. For the hot, dry sunny part you might look into some type of low growing sedum. It's tough and can withstand drought.
