please forgive me but im not very good with trees.
i was wondering what this growth might be on this crab apple tree? And what might have caused them?
i worried that if it spreads it could put the tree in danger.
i noticed that it is only at the joints where the branches are.
Anyone help me?

Looks like youve got lichen on your tree probably.
It's debatable whether it is harmful or not
