Help Please California Pepper Tree

Surprise, AZ

Help Please. My Calif. Pepper Tree is dying. I live in Arizona and I planted it about 7 months ago. It is about 15 feet tall, was doing great. Had berries this summer. Within the last 2 days it's wilted and the leaves are turning brown. It's my favorite tree, Has any buddy ever had problems with them?? I water it as I always have and it was thriving.. I can post a picture in the morning.

Be good if you can send picture, everyone can look and try help.
As you have had such an exceptional hot summer, I would gently dig out a spade deep of soil at the root area and see how dry the soil is at this area, I feel sure you will be surprised just how dry the soil is there.
IF it is dry, stick an upturned clear plastic juice container into the hole, cut the bottom off the container so you can fill the container with the hosepipe several times, this will allow the water to go right down to the roots where it is most needed. back fill the soil around the container and use this as a means of helping give the tree a drink, I leave the containers in place for a few years till the trees get well established, you don't notice the containers once they are set to about 2 inch above the top soil. you can also give liquid feed this way too.
In really hot weather the top soil gets a crust and usually the water we give the trees plants is either evaporated away or it runs off the top soil therefore misses the area it is most needed.
Hope this helps meantime till we can see the pic you send.
Good luck. WeeNel.
