bacopa (sutera cordata) drying out though kept moist

Stockton, CA

Bacopa is so lovely and I have successfully had several plants in a container until this summer. They do not like to be dry at all and I have faithfully watered them. However, I had some suddenly die in a container. They had been there for about a month. Thinking I had perhaps let them dry out, I bought new ones. These are beginning to die quickly after only a week and I have kept them moist. I have a dahlia in the center of the same container. and it seems to be growing ok though it has not bloomed. Any ideas about what could be wrong? Thank you!

I can only take a guess that there is a problem with the soil which could be anything from lack of nutrients, lack of water, not enough sun /shade, bugs in the soil eating the roots,
It's unusual for plants to die off that fast unless there is soil / water problems, the Dahlia that has not flowered yet is another indication as these normally have flowered their socks of by now, reason for non flowers on dahlias are lack of sun, tuber too deeply planted, some bugs eating the flower buds or the tuber is either dying from decease, eaten or like the others, soil depleted of nutrients, moisture etc.
You can gently tip the plants /soil out and examine it for all the things above, if any are evident, either kill the bugs, replace the soil or feed the plants and place them in a sunnier/shadier place whichever is suitable,
Good luck. Weenel.
