Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello Everyone, nice and cool here this morning, wish it was the same everywhere.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Another nite, n the house is still standing as far as I can tell from here, gtg- got to go to work now, you guys hang in there

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

It was a glorious day save for recurring flames and new fires breaking out. Had a new one break out within a mile of our house in the (very) dried up greenbelt. Some concerned citizens helped APD stomp and dig until the firefighters were able to get out with the tanker. So very very bad and now more winds picking up again today.

And now the NOAA is forecasting an "even drier winter". Drier than what?

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I am just outside of Dallas. Afraid for the nuts that think starting another fire is fun.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Careyana-how can it be even drier?

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

No doubt!!! LOL They don't live 'round here do they LOL

Over the past 220 days 3,251,365 acres have burned in the state of TX.

I've actually been really surprised that there haven't been more fires in Tx in the last 20 yrs Ive lived here. The conditions have certainly been right more then once. I'm originally from CA,( I know, that explains a lot) lol. But there are always fires there can't explain it...I'm not trying to minimize the devastation that these fires have brought just surprised that it doesn't happen more often.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thank you Lord in Heaven, I finally felt the upper 60's in the morning!! It just seemed like it was NEVER going to cool off. Have been doing a little cleaning up in the garden--chopping all the crispy dead leaves off plants and such.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Janet doesn't it feel fantastic? It was 48* here a couple of mornings, when I went outside in the morning I was actually cold. It's been 95 here as the high, but it felt great. Supposed to be 100 again this weekend so I'm enjoying it while I can.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

That's what I was wondering!

I was thinking of contacting the governor of PA and asking if donations could be raised to run a pipeline of water from there to Texas. We seem to have a deficit, and they've had more than enough!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

It is wet up here, dryer than usual- no humidity at all maybe? Kids got home from work and were barred from the house again, this time they werent allowed to return to get stuff, the firefighters went in and collected the folks who had been home since returning, no good changes in the weather, will we even be allowed home til next rain? GOOD! Proud of Tx folx, in danger of fire we all once knew to stop and had stuff we could stomp fires out with- a rake, shovel, of course you cant find wet gunny sacks these days, but we were always spottin for smoke curls, an bein careful it wasnt some hijacker in the bushes who' slit your throat an steal ur vehicle, sigh, my tools are different these days

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

Anyone in the Greenville, Royse City area be aware that there is a major grass fire by I-30 in FM 1565. Hopefully it will be contained soon.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

fires moving north, guys, preplan your motions

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I water and water and still the grass is crunchy. wouldn't take much to start a fire right here in my neighborhood.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Found an awesome place to reference data-I just learned the Riley Road Fire is where I live. It is on 3 sides of the house, I am in a little 'c' cove south of the fire now. www.wunderground.com interactive google style map, put in address, check 'Fire" and I like the hybrid maps most, but thats up to you. Uses satellites, so is more current than anything else I have found. No I am not home, am heading for Grand Prairie to deliver Monday and head for Iowa, thought I would let you guys in on that one-it even trax storms!!!

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

Everybody keep praying because there is rain forcasted for 8 days. Today it is supposed to be 106, somhopefully with the rain the temps will drop and stay down.

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Praying for rain where you are, Tina ...

A little in the forecast mid next week here.. praying early. :)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh how wonderful. Just the mere mention of rain gets me all excited. When I was a child my mother would let me play in the rain. I'm far from that time in my life but, barring a lightning storm, I'm gonna be in the rain.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Amen Lou! They're forecasting a slight possibility for showers this weekend. I'll be at ACL, praying for a repeat from two years ago!

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I think my thermometer is stuck on 105*

Trenton(close to), TX(Zone 8a)

Trenton, TX fair, 105şF

How can 105 be fair?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

105 here in Arlington also, unbelievable !!!

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

105° deep in these piney woods. This is the summer that will never end or so it seems...

Abilene, TX(Zone 7b)

When I was young I had a book of nursery rhymes. Remember the one that said "Rain, rain go away, come again some other day. Little Johnny wants to play"? I used to think that was the stupidest thing I had ever heard and I can remember changing the words to "rain rain come this way, don't wait til another day." I guess it just proves I'm a West Texas girl through and through.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Just checked the weather. Highs in LOW 90's and lows in the upper 60's, starting Monday! We'll just have to see about that...Pessimism is my middle name (where weather.com is concerned). :)

Trenton(close to), TX(Zone 8a)

I just had a 3 to 5 minute rain. Didn't shrink any cracks in my black clay.

Talihina, OK

It was 102° here yesterday and the overnight low was 80° now they(weather Jocks) are saying tomorrow the high will be 60°Gotta love Okie weather

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

lol I don't even have cracks in the clay anymore. It has all turned to powder and settled quite evenly.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

97 today

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

rain scattered all over West TX right now.. watching it move closer to Odessa. Have my fingers crossed.. wind blowing and I can smell it, hear the thunder and see the lightening. It usually fizzles just before it reaches me.... hopefully not tonight!

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Looks like Austin set another record. 103 today at Mabry.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

We have RAIN! There are a few fires from the lightening in the area but the rain is putting some of them out. Streams of water running down my fence! I am not able to catch any rainwater tonight... unfortunately. Hopefully tomorrow since we are supposed to get more tomorrow. YEA!!!!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh, you lucky dog! Go out and FEEL some! We MAY get some by next week. But you know how that goes. At least all this heat extends the swimming opportunities! (See, I'm trying to be an optimist now!!).

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Lucky Tammie! Go out and dance in it for us! And then shoo it our way!

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

It looks like I got about 1/2 inch. I will be able to see better in the daylight. Very light drizzle lasted another hour. We are supposed to get more rain tomorrow. I hope it does move east for everyone else! Good luck.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Lucky you! I would be soooooo happy if we got some rain. We are still down 26 or 27 inches for the year.

Yesterday we beat heat records of either 97 or 99. It was hot again today still. This is unreal. It is the middle of Sept. At least the tropics are clear.

I would be soooooo thankfull for some rain. There have been some nice breezes recently.

When we were teens in Hawaii once we went for a walk in the rain with Mom. Dad thought we were all crazy. It was fun! (This moment was brought to you by "Happy Memories" a tribute to Mom..........

It's been three mos now since she passed away. It's getting easier! I love my little rock garden waterfall just off my patio. It's so peacefull to sit out there and watch the water run down the rocks! Very tranquil! I'll be glad when it cools off so I can spend more time out there!
