was that last years cutting or this years Jen.. yeah for your blooms!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That was the one you just gave me after Louise's RU

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am fortunate in my SIL and DD. His business has trailers and carts of a few sorts.
DD has a garden too and when she wants manuer they go to a stable or farm and haul and spread on all the gardens. That was 2 years ago.
I bought compost this year because the soil here wont sustain anything, even the sunflowers are small.
I also take responsability for my gardens which are larger than DD's and just share left overs with her.But I wont pay my guy to clean her beds.
She spent the last weekend spreading compost on her garden, and gathered coleus to root over winter.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wow Jen lots of beauties!
Joann I'm jealous of all your compost! I could sure use a load like that here! :)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The gardens are half done and we havnt used a quarter of the pile. I will tell hin to pile it deeper so DD can spread the rest. I kght be left with a reserve to toat to the back of the lot.
I definatly wont order 2 loads again.

Thomaston, CT

Yeah, you learn through the mistakes, but it surely won't go to waste!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

would love a load of that here:)

Thanks...

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I really like that cityline

Thomaston, CT

I wish I can remember which one it is...I purchased several about 4 years ago....that's the only one that survived, & this year is the first time it really bloomed.....

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it does stink when we have to wait for them to mature.. I have a few like that.. mostly cutting grown and were small

Thomaston, CT

Yep....they came from Wayside, & I planted them in Oct. or Nov....think the others froze.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Marilyn, I'm not sure, but I would guess your Cityline hydrangea might be Paris. Mars, and Rio are others I know, and they are bicolored, but Paris is a bright pink/red shade. Very pretty blooms. I also love the foliage, which makes the wait for the blooms a little less difficult. I hope my new collection is half as pretty someday. I already think Cityline is hardier than the Let's Dance series, though i love them too as long as there's rain and moisture.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Love that hydrangea Robin!

Thomaston, CT

Thanks....next year, I'll get a photo of its true color....

looking wonderful JoAnn

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Love Jo's gardens and decks.

I have to re-name this hosta. Some sport of Royal Standard? I had thought it was Sum and Substance, until it bloomed this year for the first time, non stop pure white blossoms from late August, through rain and hurricane, even now going strong, except the leaves are slug salad.

Our hosta sanguinea was especially nice this year. It has a smaller leaf & purple flowers.

Thomaston, CT

I found slugs near my hostas for the 1st time....all this rain.....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We had tons of sluggs here when we first moved in. Two years ago someone told me how to get rid of them
Add 1 part household amonia to 10 parts water.
In the early spring when the hosta eyes are just peeking out of the soil, pour the amonia mixture around the eyes. I have treated hostas with this for 2 seasons now and the slug population is way down.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Everyone's pictures are so beautiful.

If you want a little cruel fun with the slugs, sprinkle a little salt on them and watch them explode.

Thomaston, CT

Ugh...no....I like Jo's treatment better!
