I have 4 different Crape Myrtles on my property. 3 of them bloomed already and the blooms are spent. The one that is bright pink/ reddish colored is just starting to bloom now. Why is that?
bloom times for Crape Myrtles all different
Could be lots of things--within any given type of plant there's going to be some variation in bloom times where some cultivars will likely bloom a little earlier or later. Then you add in other things like the age of the plant, its relative health/happiness, how much sun it gets, how much water/fertilizer, different microclimates, etc--differences in those things could also lead to differences in bloom times.
I didnt think it would be over a month difference. Ok, sounds like it could be right. Thank you.
My crape myrtles start blooming in June...the watermelon red and light pink first, two or three weeks later the darker pink ones start blooming followed by the purples and the reds toward the end of July, beginning of August The Natchez white didn't bloom until mid August and the Acoma white just started about 10 days ago...Ecrane is correct in her explanation.
my White ones bloomed in June.
It again depends on your zone, the cultivar and the weather/growing conditions.
