The woodpeckers all stay here year round
Daily Bird Pics - Vol. 413
Lovely pics. Dave of the juvies. On the Blue Bird, is that a Cat's tail he landed on? Such deep rich color! Wow!
Everyone has been sharing some simply gorgeous photos! **applause**
Pardalote is very pretty.
Love that Pardalote!
Stunning shots Margaret. That pardalote is so beautiful. Great capture. I can't believe how perfectly you captured that duck in flight. It looks like it's suspended in air. Fabulous.
Dave, gorgeous shots!
Gorgeous shots Margaret, Dave and everyone else. Sorry I got behind again.
This Western Tanager sat in the trees watching my last three orioles eating at the hummer feeders for a couple days. The third day it decided to be brave and come on our deck to check out the feeders and it's now a regular visitor, even if we're sitting closeby having lunch out on the deck.
thebestmissy, that's one neat pix of the kite! Nan, it's nice to have Blue Jays. Thus far mine are very shy still. For quite some time now I tried to attract them to the back yard. Only recently I've one that came after the whole peanuts that I occassionally get from the grocery stores.
Here is another peanuts lover, this one hasn't been around much, so each time I see him. It's really a nice treat. My Redheaded wp.
Thebestmissy, I would be in birding heaven if I saw that little kite! That is so amazing!
Duc, beautiful pics, artfully composed!
Nanny, fun bluejay shots. Mine are looking like Ichabod Crane. They seem to hardly have any neck feathers!
Lily, we about posted at the same time. Hope I waited long enough. Nice redheaded wp!
I've gone through all my South Dakota trip photos and I think my favorite bird pics are from the Badlands. I'll share a few. Here is a Mountain Bluebird.
Missey, loved that kite photo. Glad your oriole was able to get some nectar.
Nanny, my juvie jays aren't very pretty now either, but I do love the noise from them. Cute pictures.
Lily, I just love that red-headed. You're so fortunate to see them in person.
We took another trip to the coast (Ft. Bragg in northern California) and the fog was so bad that all I really found to photograph were gulls. At least they were people friendly. Thanks to Resin for identifying them. Here's a Calif. Gull looking bored.
The blue jays are working over the nuts on the beech tree which is very full this year. They try the ones on the ends of the branches & are having a difficult time staying perched on them.
From this weekend...
This little lady is the grande dame of our balcony! She rules that perch! She has run off all the male hummers now, and only allows one other female to feed (I am presuming it's her daughter). When she wants to sit on the tree limb I have provided as a perch to all the birds that visit us, then she gets it! She has run off the goldfinches, chickadees, titmouses, and nuthatches! The only birds she gives way too are the woodpeckers! The hummers will all be gone from our area soon... I'll miss my little lady!
WildRose, your little hummer is a cutie.
Countrymom, I happen to love starlings but we don't see more than a handful of them in our neighborhood so they're not pests at our feeders.
Elphaba, love your little wren. Your little one is more colorful than our bewick's wrens.
This wrentit was enjoying a bath and flew up on top of the fence to shake off the water.
Nice pics. everyone. Duc, I'm at a loss! Which is the Western Tanager and what was the Juvenile Oriole? The Oak titmouse is cute, and smart too. lol
Tanager on the right - note the thicker bill
