A juvie Goldfinch, with it's baby fat. It can get pretty loud here, with their demand for food. ;)
Daily Bird Pics - Vol. 413
Beautiful duc!! I didn't realize you were that close to the lake. No wonder you get those eagle flybys!!
Cute wrens for duc and burn!!
Our orioles finally left. We saw a male and female Sunday evening but there was no sign of them yesterday. Hope they have a safe fight and we will forward to them next spring!
burn, So glad your having so many Goldfinch! I love the Chickadee's too!
Sweet pics duc!
Wow Duc, beautiful garden! Love the young Ca. Thrasher, Northern Flicker and the currious vulture. Margaret, the 28 Parrot seems like it's having a ball while doing its arial show-off lol. I had no idea the Cormorant is so intricately beautiful; look at that emerald green eyes. The Black faced Cuckoo Shrike is beautiful on its own right! Such beautiful birds!
That's a beauty! Thanks Margaret.
Great shots Margaret! The 28's are so beautiful and you did a wonderful job capturing him in both pics!
The eyes on the Cormorant are stunning!
The Pied Cormorant is beautiful!!
When i went ofr my walk this morning I couldn't believe all the birds that were about. No doubt lots came in with the winds yesterday & overnight. I was not able to get any really good photos due to bad light conditions(got a few yellow booty shots! lol) but saw lots of Magnolia Warblers, Mrytle Warblers, Eastern Phoebes and even a few Baltimore Orioles...and all in the same small area!
How about this Cardinal who didn't seem to notice me...a bit further down from where all the other birds were.

Beautiful shots Nanny!
Margaret, that 28 shot coming down at you is AWESOME! The cormorant is beautiful too.
Duc, gorgeous view. No wonder you have so many great birds!
Burn, beautiful shots. I can't wait for the goldfinches to come down for the winter. Of course, they are not as pretty when they get here! I was just driving through Nebraska and a family of Sharp-tailed Grouse crossed the road right in front of me. I took terrible pics of them, but what a great experience. Love Nebraska!
VA_Wild_Rose- stunning shots! I especially like the bobwhite. I'm dying to see one of those.
Great pics everyone.
I've been visiting the folks in South Dakota. Still going through those pics. Came home to a dead yard. No rain, 100+ temps until the day I got back. Brought some cooler weather down with me, but sadly no rain. I've had a couple of cool birds anyway and got a couple of decent shots. This one was pretty exciting for me since I rarely see them -- a Red-eyed Vireo.
Nan, glad to know you've got to see many birds on your walk. I think I get to see more of the Easter Blue birds down here too, but have yet spotted a juvie. Elphy love that Yellow Warbler, and the Red-eyed Vireo is stunning, please send some my way. Countrymom, nice shot of your Mourning dove.
nice Vireo shots Elphaba!!
Hi Countrymom...want to add my welcome to you and hope to see you here often! Cute Dove!
Thank you - everyone - for all the warm welcomes !
Cousin Dave, that's such a sweet pix!
Great shots, but love that last one, Dave!
Wow GP, these shots are awesome, thanks for the invite.
- VA l love that Black Skimmer, Beautiful shot of the 2x Crested Cormorant, in fact they're all great shots!
- Redirtree, lovely coloraton on that snipe, great detail. Jezz, what a long beak!!
- Ducbucln, wonderful Isolation shots of the finches, I find the subdued color in the first silver/ gray shot of the house finch particularly appealing.
- Nanny, I like that hummer shot, it has a very light, 'natural' feel to it, makes me feel good just looking at it, - just as you would see it in real life.
- Elphaba, beautiful Red-eyed Vireo, what a catch! Love the Yellow warbler too, wish I could here it sing.. ☺
- Cute little morning dove, Countrymom, looks like she's standing at attention!
- and of course the mockingbirds, thought I was looking at the cover of the Audobon societies magazine for a sec, awesome quality, wonderful subjects..
Well I just stopped by to drop off these three shots of a regular around here, actually she's the offspring of 3 Downys which visit my feeder every day, (often at the same time).
Taken with my Nikon with a Sigma 500, total EFL 750mm, at a distance of just over 10 feet.
- Sitting on the fence to make sure it's just me again sitting down on my stoop. (she likes it when we sit down together, the house finches clear out and she has no competition at the feeder ☺)
- Burn great shot of the birds feeding each other at that blue feeder, I have the same feeder, but the squirrels take advantage all too often of that one so I'm using a caged one now instead.
- Margaret I love that Parrot, awesome shots.
- Lily, Redbellied woodys are my favorites, they're loud, but very striking birds, wonderful captures.
- heading for a different spot..
GORGEOUS pics Watercan2! Love the claws in that last pic.
Dave, STUNNING shot of those mockingbirds. Makes me wonder why they don't help themselves to the worms.
Countrymom, WELCOME!!! This photo I'm about to post might bother you if you are a dove lover. I actually love the mourning doves. They are beautiful and I don't have many. These white-winged doves are a menace though.
This should go on the bad pics thread, but can't resist sharing it here. First I snapped pics without realizing that I had the settings all wrong. Then I thought I fixed it, but the pics are awful. I'm soooo disappointed! If only he'd been in a bit of sun. Here is a Broad-winged Hawk with its catch a White-winged Dove. If the pic were clearer, you could even see the feather he has in his bill!
Great shots everyone!!
Dave, Love the Mockingbirds begging!
WC, Great shots of the Downy Woodpecker!
Elphaba, Love the Warblers and Vireo!
Nanny, Sweet Bluebird!
WC....those are great pics of your Downy!!
Dave....I love your Mocking birds!
Elphaba....very cool catch of the Broad-winged Hawk!!
Counrtymom...the Jays are one of my backyard favorites here where I live.
I was very surprised yesterday when I looked out and saw a male Red-bellied Woodpecker feeding a fledgling!! Don't recall having a RBW juvie this late before. The photo is not great I didn't want to miss the shot so I just grabbed the camera and took it! lol
