Winter Squash questions concerns

Brookside Village, TX

I am not really sure what the problem here is or if its only one or a multitude of problems.

I have ants that have taken over my garden, though I have no idea if they are really bad or just ok, though, they are a pest thats for sure and I plan to spray garlic in my garden tomorrow when I water.

One thing I have noticed, and I will be posting multiple pictures, is that some of my female buds die before they even bloom.

If you have any insight please let me know. I am at a loss as to what I should do if there is even anything I can do.

Thank you in advance.

I am not sure what is going on here, and as of this morning only one of the female buds has made it to bloom. I pollinated it this morning but it has ants ALL inside the plant and I am not sure if it will take.

Thoughts, ideas? Should I pull the whole infected plant up? I planted 3 so it shouldnt be a total loss. Also the buds that arent blooming and then dying are a part of the yellowing/dying plant if that helps at all.

Thank you for attempting to assist.

It could just be the heat, My winter squash are refusing to set this year with almost continuous triple digit heat. Parts of Texas are hotter and dryer than I am.

I wondered about that too, but would the rest of the plants be doing far better? The female bloom that I do have is on a completely different plant which is why I started to be concerned.

This heat is so bad, though I am not looking forward to winter seeing as how everyone seems to agree we are in for a rough one.

Ants usually mean an infestation of aphids, so make sure those little pests are not sucking your plants dry. Fire ants are a different story, don't seem to bother plants, but people are a target.

So if I do have aphids how do I got about ridding myself of them with out chemicals?

Also, how small are these bugs? Cause I havent seen any that I know of.
