i dont know i got the ground well prepared, put natural fertalizer as well, put an excellent quality grass lots and lots of water day and night but it is dying, from green it is going to dried up shape, however few of the segments are going green at the top. a gardener told me that it would die from top and would regenerate from the roots. wats going on with my grass, i put in lots and lots of efforts, is it that i am watering it too much? does it happen like this when u plant the plugs? someone tell me plz
SOS for my grass, is it dying?
Just for all of you to know that it has been plugged for about 3 days now and in near vacinity same grass is being plugged and it has come up very well albiet in 3 weeks time but i wish to see something to keep my spirits high, is it being impatient, can see a part of the ground which i prepared , now the place where i had put fresh soil to give it give some relief in the ground there the grass has come up very well and is still green though i think that place has been watered quite less as compared to other area. plz do go through my earlier posts to c the pics of ground in various stages of prep may be u can figure out if it would work or not :(
Your problem may be the time of year that you're trying to start your lawn--cooler weather is going to be the best time to do it. Most sites recommend spring planting for grass plugs so that you get them in just prior to the grass's active growing season, but at a minimum you want to do it during a cool time of year and I suspect August in Pakistan is probably on the warm side?
Here are some links about planting plugs--how to prepare the area as well as how to plant & care for the plugs after planting:

What has your temperature been? It looks like the plugs are small so hot dry weather will make it a struggle for them to survive. The grass plugs that are doing well look to be in shade which will keep them from drying out too quickly. Plugged grass can begin to brown before it forms enough root system to keep the grass alive. We are currently seeding new grass in parts of our yard. Right after seeding, we are watering with a root stimulator solution (Miracle Grow or Quick Start) that encourages the seed to put down strong roots. Our new grass is growing real well. You could try this with your plugs--water them with the solution followed by a good soaking. Also, if I understand right, you're watering at night? It would be better to water in the morning so the grass can dry during the day. If water stands on plants during the night, it can cause problems such as fungal growth, etc., especially if your climate is humid.
your observation on shade and sun is quite pertinent and also about small plugs and large tufts, at my place where i am doing it, the temprature is around 22-25 degrees Centigrade. its not the matter of day and night since i am watering them round the clock and secondly most of the times the sky is covered by clouds and its raining right now, it rained yesterday as well but still when its sun it is bit hot to the extent of around 32-35 degrees. in this area which is not lahore, is about 4000 feet ASL and it snows here in winters by a month or two it will be autumn here. May be i should wait and see and yes your suggestion for Watering solution is really good i am getting that and have already asked for fertilizer something DP which my gardner says should be very good. thanx for advises i will keep posting the progress.
Thanx
Sounds like you have things under control lazawal09. Good luck and I'll be interested to see your grass when it turns into a lush green lawn.
