cutting back tomatoes

San Diego, CA

Gardening all these years and have never been sure if you are to pinch young tomato plants to make them bushier. Or if you can lop them off when they get too high. Maybe the reason mine get too high is because I don't pinch in the beginning. Some of mine are really putting out long high shoots and I hate to cut them off now just as they are putting out blooms. All in full day sun.

Klug ~ some tomato cultivars grow tall. It is an indeterminate type.
I would suggest letting them grow and providing a means to climb.
Do you know what cultivar you planted?

Your arent growing too high, you just live in a great place for growing things. I would just let them be, as pod said, and think of us while you are picking tons of tomatoes.
