whew.. well that's good at least
Hurricane Irene Pt2
crazy
well have lots of firewood
Oh yeah, we are good on firewood for about 2 years!! Thats all you heard yesterday....chainsaws all day long.
I expect the same today.
Sad to see the downed timber. Any idea what the wind speed was recorded at?
Those last shots are cool but look like the clouds are on fire...
We only had 50 pmh winds here, thank goodness! Gust were stronger in the Southern part of the state, where my DD lives and has been with out power for almost 48 hrs now. She lost all the food in her freezer. :(
The clouds do lool like they are on fire!
such a shame
Very nice cloud shots Celeste, esp 1 & 4, also great human interest shot, the trunk of that tree is huge!
- Even the dog is looking up at the sky!
Those ducklings didn't look too happy
Wow that was a HUGE tree that hit that house
Here's my friend's hometown

And the fact that it's on the wires
So sad... not just the property damage but losing those old trees would be like losing a good friend.
I got within 50' of work today and had to figure out a detour. My GPS is broken so I was SOP and I'm not very good at that. Found my way around but many people are not coming in because either their road is blocked by downed trees or, since they don't have power, they don't have showers and they - well you know. One woman is making extra keys to her condo so friends can come in and take a shower while she is at work. Now THAT is a true friend.
That's just too much water there in Middlesex Jen, there shouldn't even be a town there. Who would want to live in a place that gets flooded like that? A river runs through it!
LOL, GHG on your granddaughter wanting to go waterskiing.
Can you imagine what things would have looked like with more wind?
heartbreaking.
So glad you are ok pixie. Just think of all that free mulch! :D & gorgeous sunset. Storms are just mother natures way of cleaning house. It's up to us to plant more trees now. Great time to sign up for the arborday foundation. 10 trees $10!
Outlaw, if it's all the same to you, we could have cleaned house without the drama and expense. Honest. We would have all gotten to it eventually.
Good thing there wasn't any more wind, this area just isn't used to or prepared for these types of storms at this time of year. We get the wind when the leaves are off the trees and have less resistance - with Nor'easters.
Ordered some trees from the A Day foundation a couple of mos ago, small ones like Redbuds and such, I don't need any big ones!
Wow - some scary pics. That tree was huge, Celeste. Thank God no one was hurt.
Windham, in the Catskills, was hit very hard. We are going there the end of Sep for a long weekend. Hope the place is still okay.
Blood supply is low. Please donate if you normally do. If you do not, I can punch you in the nose. ^_^
Yes this is the TS I was talking about on the weather thread...it bares watching.
why am I feeling I'm at the wrong end of a bowling lane..
Just hope it takes a sharp 90 degree turn!

Ugh.. I was afraid of that.
Hate to say it but I think Mother Nature wants a strike. :(
