Can anyone tell what happen here ?

This is some 'Peaches and Cream' corn I'm growing and this guy formed out side the husk.

From the looks of the picture, this little "cob" formed on the top of one of the suckers. That is nothing to worry about, it is fairly common. Some people remove the suckers when the corn plants are young, but that is really not necessary.

I have never seen anything like that before . Mine kind of grew out the top of the husk. I grew peaches and cream too. I really like the flavor.

Oh it's good corn, for sure...I did not eat this one either.
I canned 7 pts of kernels corn off these plants.....yummm

the farmer up the road grows it too ,he invited us over to help put up corn. It took around 8 hours to get it all done .he made his cream style and gave me and my boys a whole box of it about 30 quart size bags. It really is the best cream corn I ever ate. and my boys would have it every night if I would let them.

You lucky dogs!!!!! Can you believe some rats (G-d knows where they came from) ate up all my corn while it was still on the plant. EVERY KERNEL!!!!! Anyone ever hear of rat poison?

Shirley, IN

RATS oh I would be scared to go out in the garden I hate rats, mice . I wouldn't let my boys get a hammster or gerbil there to much like them other rodents. So sorry about your corn that just flat out stinks. I had some racoons get a little of mine . next year you may want to a few cats around . unless there like mine which would run from a rat more likly

That's what I'm going to have to do. I won't be able to put out rat poison next year cause we're getting our new puppy on sunday. We lost Bonnie several weeks ago to breast cancer and lost Sparky in the spring. That's probably why i haven't had problems with rats or squirrels, Sparky the Jack Russel took care of that. Oh well, I'll soon have another corgi to guard the yard.

yehudith ... sorry to hear of your Loss, I recently lost my Oldest Beagle, Cocoa, He Died in my arm's, He was an Amazing Dog, and member of the Family...

I wish more people understood what its like to loose the family dog. All of us were there with her. My daughter (10) was holding and talking to her along with me. I'd given her 150mg of oxycontin that day in an attempt to keep her comfortable and the sedative they'd given her just wouldn't take affect. She just kept screamng and yelling cause she wanted to get off the table. Finally keeled over from the sedative (thank G-d) My son (16) was fighting to hold it together and my husband just stood there looking miserable with his sunglasses on. I told my daughter she had to hold herself together for Bonnie's sake, but the minute we said it was all over she let loose with all the hysterical drama an over indulged, prepubecent girl can muster. While my husband and the tech were taking care of Bonnie I'm holding this child on my lap tryng to calm her down when all I wanted to do was scream with pain (Bonnie was my dog that my husband had bought for me before my son was born). I ended up carrying her to the car. Bonnies been laid to rest in the back garden next to Spaky, surrounded by hellebours and Japanese anemones with dogwoods for shade. I miss her so, the house is so empty. Oh well little Zivah will soon liven things up. She''s a true Jersey Girl. We got to meet her last Sunday and she'll come home this Sunday.

Thanks for listening, my condolences on loosing your beagles. They're such cool dogs.

I know how much a pet can mean to your family. I lost my oldest son the night of sept 20 just a week ago . his 14 year old brother is coping best he can , as we all are . Our black lab Joe is so conforting to him when he needs to get away he just walks joe and pets on him and joe wont leave his side. He is helping him. An update on the puppies. That's right, puppies. When we got to the Corgi breeder my husband made the stupid of-hand remark that if we got two now he wouldn't have to drive up there again. In comes Kathy with Zivah and all six of her sisters including the tiniest little Corgi I've ever seen. Bonnie was on the small side herself though she did make standard weight eventually. This little thing had the hugest Corgi ears and positively sparkled with life and didn't take anything from the big ones so Sparkles is her name. We were going to use the Hebrew, but none of us like the sound of sparkle in Hebrew so she's just English Sparkles all 3 pounds of her most of which is her ears. She's mine, but she just took to my son when he came home from school sunday. So now we're a complete family again. I still cry when I think of Bonnie but Zivah and Sparkles go a long way to filling up the hole in my heart. I'm training them both to be hearing ear dogs so they can get their service dog badges and travel with us. Now back to the corn.

Your puppies sound adorable are they adjusting well to there new home? did you have any other pets they have to get along with. when you discriped sparkles I had to laugh , she reminded me of a Corgi I saw at a friends its ears were big too, the cutest thing I ever saw . She reminded me of a fox with those ears. I think they are lucky to have come into your family ,sounds like they are going to be taken care very well. How long does it take to train them for their service dog badges?

I am so sorry for all your losses, I know it is part of life, but even though we are told how ill someone is or how old or ill the pets are, nothing prepares you for that moment when it happens, we are all different in our beliefs and thoughts and for me, there is nothing wrong with an adult male or female who can shed a tear when we loose someone or something we learned to love unconditionally and, loved back in return.
What a warm glow the memories will bring to you all in time, my heart goes out to you all, been there, done that and got the t shirt, it's hell for a while then you realise you did your level best, but there's an empty place at the table or the house that no one can fill, but someone else can sure make things better like they understand they are special too. good luck to you all. Weenel.

I love doing Ayrshire work by the way.

It will take a couple years usually. First we spend the first 8 mos socializing, housebreaking and basic obedience training. After all that we'll start the actually training to target sounds. That's what takes the longest. They have to learn to recognize the sound and then to alert their person and then to take their person to the sound. Needless to say, that's what is the hardest to do. Fortunately according to ADA/federal law they can be recognized as service animals while they're still in training so the puppies can travel with us wherever we go including the grocery store. Once we state they're in training as service dogs or are already they have to be accepted in any establishment by federal law and we can't be required to show any certification. As a matter of fact accorrding to ADA they are not required to be certified. We can get ID tags for them to wear which will keep people off our backs. We plan to use them legitimately as Hearing Ear Dogs as both of my children are deaf and my hearing is not the greatest. They of course will be part of the family.

These guys are the most personable little creatures you could ever meet. They were out in the yard with me as I was clearing the garden this a.m. and next thing I know I see this whole stalk of brussel sprouts sprinting accross the yard. The thing had 8 little white feet attached. Sparkles had the front, Zivah had the back. I never laughed so hard, I wanted to kick myself for not taking the camera out to the yard with me.

Shirley, IN

I laughed when I pictured that stalk with the 8 white feet . that had to be funny. I am curious do uyou ever get hasseled about bringing your dogs in an buisness . seeems like it would be quite clear they are working dogs. You invest a lot of time into this that is wonderful.
