Daily Bird Pics - Vol. 412

Stafford County, VA

Time to start a new thread. The thread we just finished contains some terrific shots. Here is a link back to it if you missed part of it: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1210279/

We went to Baltimore on Monday to visit my mother in law. I took my camera along and here are a few of her birds.

I particularly enjoyed watching this tufted titmouse, who was much more aggressive than those in my yard. Here you see him coming into the frame at top right, ready to chase the nuthatch.

And here is the next shot. I didn't realize the nuthatch could fly upside down.

Lots of action between the hummingbirds. This guy thought he was king of the roost that day.

Many of the birds are molting. The bill on this goldfinch seems to be peeling off.

And the cardinal looks rather scroungy as well.

As does the song sparrow.

Great photos in that last thread. Lily, congratulations on two beautiful lifers!

Sorry I've gotten behind. I've been busy with a special hummer at my house and I'm waiting for more info before sharing it.

Meanwhile, not near as pretty as Lily's lifers, but here's mine from yesterday, an immature Lark Sparrow that Resin confirmed for me.

I'm down to about 5 very young orioles but they should be packing up and moving on soon.

I'll sure miss these yellow beauties, here's one still willing to share a feeder with a hummer.

I forgot to say thank you to Dave for starting this new thread with such great photos. Nanny and Loonie, great photos too-sorry!

Wonderful start to this new thread. Dave, I love that action between the Nuthatch and the Titmouse. Love the upside down shot!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thank you Cousin Dave for a great start to a new thread. Love those shots of the Titmouse and Nuthatch too. I see lots of birds down here are showing signs of molting too. Some of them really looking ragged. It's so nice to see Great Crested Flycatcher, I saw them but once or twice in early spring, but that was it. Duc, thanks. Love your pic. of the Oriole and humminbird sharing a feeder. Nice catch Carla.

Lots of birds here this morning. Here is a juvenile mockingbird. Hanging out near the meal worm bowl...

Begging from any adult that comes near...

But without success. Apparently the parents feel he is old enough to feed himself, since they flew right into his face. He perched on the edge of the bowl but he never reached for one.

Lily, your cardinal is a sweetie in the shade.

Burn, cute photos of your birds.

Nanny, cute flicker. At least you caught a photo of yours. I've been trying to catch one here for two days but it's always too far away.

Dave wonderful photos of your mockers, wp, cardinal and cowbirds!
