Helena, I love your Blue Speckled. It doesn't make any ugly blooms, very photogenic. I like the
Lav Plum too with its soft color.
Nick, Beautiful Ushio. I grew one that looked a lot like that one in 09. I called it Pink Tie Dye but I
think it came from my pkg labeled Rose Zebra.
Pretty lavender no Izumi and I like your hybrid too, nice blue bloom.
Heres a shot of my Rose Zebra
Morning Glories 2011 # 14
Helena - Love that blue kikyo!!! And the lav-plum is pretty, too!
Nick - Both of your Ushio bloom photos are beautiful! They do remind me of Pink Tie-dye that Jackie grew. That cultivar is very nice! Love the color! All of your bloom photos are wonderful! I look forward to more!
Jackie - Beautiful pink Rose Zebra/Ushio blooms!
It's so hard for me to really know what some of these cultivars/crosses are because so many look quite similar. I am like many people and can only compare them to what I have personally grown. And even then, they can sure throw some interesting crosses or exhibit some totally different recessive genes. In addition, there are soooo many different names for all the cultivars/hybrids/crosses of I. nils. And many that are very similar go by different names. I gave up keeping track. It boggles the mind. LOL!

Thanks for the kind words, folks! Nice pinks, Jackie; and I hope to get some pretty blue-speckled kikyos soon like yours, Helena!
The different-looking Ushios I posted are actually from two separate vines, but the seeds of both came from the same packet from Japan's Nichinou Seed Co. :-)
Oh, and that turquoise-blue one by Debra... wayyyy cool!!
That is awsome! will show you a pic of some of the blooms from this am, tonight. Yours are just now blooming here, Jackie.
Beautiful blooms Jackie and Debra. Am enjoying your blooms, mine got damaged by the good rain this morning, we needed it so bad that I can't complain.
Debra, nice blooms. The 2nd one kinda looks like it might be a Saz, the 4th pic looks like it could be
one of the no Mai's I've been getting lately with the purple.
Do you recall if I sent you no Mai sds?
Debra you know that 1st one could be Plum Purple Velvet or even Pres Bush
They're all very pretty whatever they are, :-)
Thanks Helena, glad you got a good rain. We're needing more rain too.
yes u sent pres bush and no mai and weird saz, Jackie.. ( home from work. ) back to work now.. oh, I tagged the large white, the blue monet and the large pink. now to be able to the other vines.. ( where I can SEE them) it is heck getting blind..
Debra, then the 1st pic is Pres Bush, the 2nd one is Striped Saz and the 4th pic is most likely from
my no Mai sds that produced the purple no Mai.
Lets watch the no Mai and see what it blooms next.
my poor white moon vine is fried ( the leaves) but the two stems are good.. one is a fiddle shape and one is a heart shape, I bet one with fiddle shape is a species plant from out of country I planted. Muc as I hate to do it, I am undwinding them from their tall canes, cutting them back and radying them for inside again. hey bloomed inside last winter, they can do it again.
My lavender moon vine is all over two tomatoe cages and half of the what used to be the tomatoe patch.. I keep missing the blooms..
not many seed pods on any of these.. prolly cuz there are many bees out,, they are too buzy repairing the melting hive I bet..
Pandy in Pot out front has showed up ( from the tuber) , too bad he isn't gonna get far, it is supposed to drop down to 50 something next week in the evening... things are going to freak out..
my babay woodrose, argyia wallichi and sticto are all growing together, and will be a mess to cut back and bring in.. I am fixing up a special area just for the vines downstairs.
think I will try and root some lav moon vine just for fun..
Debra, I think its wonderful that you can get a moonvine to bloom inside during the winter. I would love to try.
We have cool weather coming too, thanks to a cold front approaching by Monday. Down to 60-at night.
Any cooler than that and my heat will kick on in the g house. I think I'll have DH turn it down to 50
50 won't hurt the plants plus it will slow down the pests.
I agree our plants are going to freak out, been 95 or higher all summer and now will be more like early Oct days and nights. The worst thing, it will be a month or more before I get my g house cleaned out to carry plants back in.
Time for a new thread
